that or another example of the move closer to Grado that it seems ALL the manufacturers are doing while at the same time Grados get crapped on

Looks like good stuff , do you think there's grado in them there phones ? There's a definite air of China to the looks, a long Goldring pedigree (though pedigree counts for nothing nowadays when a 10 year old can sit at a computer armed with a software package and call himself a "designer") £60 in the headphone world isn't a lot and the review Hi-Fi World gave them was very favourable indeed (May 2006 edition) "Technically" Goldring is a British company, been in business for almost 100 years, so I'm up for giving the DR-150 a try... the Americans have Grado, the japanese have got AT / Sony, the Germans have got senn / beyer and the Austrians have got AKG... not to forget the Swiss who have the Ergo....... Seems like the British now have the Goldring

Lovely looking cans, especially the DR-150s. And all for 60 quid, can't be bad to that. Be interested to see what Mike thinks of them.

The detachable 3.5mm jack at the headphone end is a damn good idea; it would make replacing a faulty cable an absolute doddle.

32 ohms and 100dB sensitiivity say likely no but just another example of the industry moving closer to Grado who always had it right and that will likely piss off a damn lot of amp makers when their products are no longer needed

they look nice , I have to wonder ( as I can't tell from the pics ) do the have any front to back adjustment for the err ear enclosures ? meaning Its plain as day the tilt top to bottom, but do the tilt front to back? I ask that cause with the HD-650's sometime just a bit of tilt front to back brings more comfort. Hope you really enjoy them and look forward to your sharing more impressions here with us.

Like a bit of side to side movement? Yes, they have about the same degree of play as the Senn HD-600. The headband is also adjustable so they'll fit on small, medium or large heads no problems. I'm finding them extremely comfortable, they've been on my head for about 3 hours now and you really wouldn't know they were on..... that Hi Fi world reviewer must have a head the size of a medicine ball for him to say they were uncomfortable..... I have a full sized head (big) and these are so comfortable you hardly know you're wearing them.

back and forth side to side I think we are thinking about the same thing, On the 650's the "side to side" movement is right where the ear piece frame connects to the band, I guess the word swivel could also describe it. where do they pivot from , sorry I simply can't see it. free postage in UK well that sounds like expensive to usa address I'd guess I like that you have senns to compare with. can't wait to hear your thoughts . I agree 100% now with what you said PinkFloyd ( not sure if it was this thread though lol ) about sound change in headphones. as a matter of fact that is precisely why I got a pretty good deal on my AKG-701's , the quy swore they only had 10 hours on them... and admittedly they did not impress me in the least either. oh well, I see what reading and learning a little more about this hobby can do. he's broken away all alone on the left wing .........he shoots >>>> GOAL!!!!!

There's just that bit of "give" where the enclosures connect to the headband to allow around 20mm (overall) play (or swivel or pivot) you'll see it better with the headband extended: This is where there's a slight bit of side to side free play You'd probably be talking around £12 on top of the £60 to get a pair shipped to the US via insured / trackable delivery, don't they sell them over there?

sorry PinkFloyd , your posting here is the first I have seen of them it almost sounds like there is only a pivot , wiggle because of how the parts are connected, not because it was designed to pivot that way, reason I say that is with the 650 its plain as the nose on one's face it was MADE to adjust in such a way... I have a thick head sometimes not trying to give you a hard time just trying to understand. I can right now, hold the 650 driver compartment frame in my fingers and adjust pressure on my melon from front to back and it pretty much stays that way for quite a while. ..... are there "stops" like the senns have?

ah! the adjustable headband you're referring to..... yes, exactly the same idea as the Senns just pull down on each earpiece and the headband extends

ah! the adjustable headband you're referring to..... yes, exactly the same idea as the Senns just pull down on each earpiece and the headband extends ah errr no ;D I guess a real world example may be in order when I say front to back pivot I mean like a vertical blind........ um a Miss America wave............an oscillating fan .... ummm on the senns directly above the model number where the band meets the ear piece, that is where the ear piece pivots (when looking down at it there is about 1/4 inch of pivot)... ok I'm done now thats the best I can do .. as I said I really like that the senns do adjust in such a way. thanks

I'm growing very impatient in my old age and am power bedding these guys in They're strapped onto my old faithful HFN-009 "headcase" with volco running at an obscene 4 o' clock position (ear bleedingly loud but not clipping) being fed a diet of Kraftwerk through my highly used and abused Denon DCD-835 dedicated test machine on loop...... I've also gone Graham Slee and covered the 150's with two pillows and parcel taped them onto a hot radiator..... I'll release them tomorrow night and report on the progress (If they survive the punishment)
