not much out there of any real use to me so would like to hear from anyone with real time experience.
Not for serious music listening as much as for a sealed can for field recording with the occasional use for surround sound movies so my requirements are
1-must sound natural and not have that "plastic cavern" resoance so many sealed cans have that gives me a freaking headache
2-can't be too much headphone as in too heavy or too hot on the ears.If I want that I will heat up a pair of anchors and wire them to my head.i want a soft touch yet a fairly good comfortable seal in a light weight headphone.Tall order I know
3-Durability.I like the easily replaced cable, the weakness in ALL headphones that have either hard wired or custom connector removables but I need a can that can take a beating on the "it is a damn tool not something to be pampered" level. No I don't expect the cans to survive a total immersion in a river,to survive beaing left on a dashboard for hours in direct sunlight or to take a shot from a five pound sledge with grace but i DO expect reasonable use with the occasional drop or they being mushed in my field bag to be taken in stride with no more than cosmetic damage.
The old 600 ohm "studio" cans were about as indestrucable as anything I have ever attached to the output of an amplifer (the old KOSS PRO-4AA tug boats are a close second ) and never once let me down in a pinch even if that "pinch" was monitoring the record feed while being fondled by a hottie while I try to pull away which being "plugged in" stressed the cord to the limits without going intermittant and/or having all manner of beer or mixed drinks (foodstuffs, drugs) spilled on them no worse for it other than the fkers getting sticky then everything coming in contact sticking to THEM making for some very dank looking cans though sounding no worse for the wear.
i need to know the updated styling is just a better "look" not all show and no go since i want a tool not a fashion statement and am looking to these babies more on the pedigree of past experience than any real hands on
