the real star of the Sony lineup is the MDR-7506 which is an exact replacement for the MDR-V6 and a stellar performer for a sealed can, especially for the price of $99 "street".
The MDR-3000 is more of a love it or hate it can with some serious debates in various forums on whether the cans are accurate or overly bright and if the isolation is good enough in what is essentially a sealed headphone, something to be taken with a grain of salt anyway with something that goes to can loyalty and subjectiv taste where two opinions on one thing can go to extreme opposites.
Maybe you have a local dealer for a "ears on" listeing test ?

You may find this interesting Fritz. www.headwize.com/articles/sunier1_art.htmIt seems Mr.sunnier A.K.A. "Mister Binaural" prefers the AKG K1000,the Jeklin, the Sony 3000 and maybe surprisingly to many who claim the Grados suck in the imaging department any of the Grados for listening to binaural recordings so maybe there is more to the 3000 than I thought
