It's fun. If you like the Beatles, of course. Anyone else pick it up?
I loved the Mr. Kite/Helter Skelter mix. The version of Eleanor Rigby is a must. The whole thing flows beautifull from beginning to end, and I can't stop listening if I hear one note.

Random fact: There is a blue copy of the white album. Only one, and some guy made it when they weren't looking.
Love might as well only have one track that's 80 minutes long. That's right, 80 minutes. They use up the whole CD, and it doesn't feel like 80 minutes.
When I heard "Cirque de Soleil" artsy fartsy crap was attached, I was a little worried. Now I know the show is in the music. My only gripe is shortening Hey Jude, but at that point 7 minutes would've been too much anyway. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" seems to be a demo version with added orchestra, the medleys are very well done, and the few songs they didn't change much are superior. The album keeps things fresh enough at all times to where you just want to here more and more.
Now I'm going through my Beatles collection for re-examination. Release the remasters already!

speaking of demo versions brings to mind the anthology double set that is mostly unlistenable as far as musical enjoyment goes yet totally gripping in the historical perspective and how some of the songs were created.
Having an actual band play in the studio creating music done in a single take is to me more "honest" than all the manipulation and overduubing that goes on today and that is soo bad it is not uncommon to see an act live that can not even play their own music because the reality is they never did and a bummer when even a cover band in a bar sounds more like the CD than the actual band with their name on the cover.
BTW-Aerosmith's cover of "come together" is a gem
BTW II-is there ANY band from the late sixties/early seventies that did NOT do a cover of long tall sally ?

Yeah, the demo version is from anthology. Checked it out. Would you say the anthology sets are worth it? I'm a huge Beatles fan and have more demos than any two people. I think I just answered my own question.
Gah, how could I leave out: The Martins combined Yesterday with Blackbird. It's perfection set to music, I swear. I hate remixes, and hate the fact that some of this stuff is better than the original.

anyone ever listened to the beatle album from the StarClub/BeatClub/???Club where they played in Hamburg still wearing leather jackets and not being managed by someone?
I stongly think they have invented what was later called punk rock. At least it sounds exacly like the stuff from the 80's.
Else I have never been a beatles fan much. Like some 10 songs in total I guess.

Just got hold of "Love" today. I must admit, at first, it was a bit weird listening to tracks I know back to front presented in this new way. A bit like an elongated "stars on 45" medley but with all original Beatles material instead of random sound effects.
I read all the hype about the amazing sound quality too but have yet to hear it, it's certainly nothing to rave about IMO sounding decidedly shrill and edgy in places.
High points have to be "because" (the vocals are just superb) "While my guitar Gently weeps" (fantastic arrangement) and "Strawberry Fields" (another cool arrangement)
The transistions between tracks are good in places but they go toward making this one long slightly disjointed track instead of 26 individual tracks.... as I say, IMO, more of high class attempt at a party mix than anything unique.... I was expecting a lot more.
This would be great with the 360° seating, panoramic video projections and surround sound but as a CD to listen to at home nothing to really get excited about and I prefer the original recordings over this any day.

Huh. Maybe I'm being too nice to it? I thought it took advantage of the soundstage well, and didn't get any listening fatigue because of the good imaging. Maybe I'm comparing this to the left/right channel approach of the originals (I don't do crossfeed. Just don't believe in it )

Years of listening to the originals and now this, it kinda threw me off centre for a moment but I'm slowly coming round to it

Hehe, amazing what a difference a change of mood can make to an album, I'm listening now and just loving every second of it So good is it that it brings tears to my eyes in parts, I was mad on the Beatles many years ago, quite a new trip down memory lane.... awesome

Hey, who are you and where's Mike? Anyway, glad to hear you came around, Ebeniezer. edit: I have never liked "All You Need is Love", and the only reason I listen to it here is because of the 25 tracks before it.

So I picked up a copy eventually paying full price after getting ripped doff on ebay by a dodgy account (what a load of hassle for 5 quid!!) Anyhow ....
... I have to say I've never been a Beatles fan, and it is rather odd listening to some of the arrangements with a Break Beat dance rhythm driving along something your brain tells you is early 70s??
A good measure of the CD is that once I'd scanned it, and hit the play button on my Squeezebox, I was not tempted to skip on - something I always do (much to my wifes annoyance.) The only departure was to occasionally jump between speaker and headphones.
Quality is excellent ... with much details to find and listen to - I found the CD drew me in, with each track offering something. The baseline on one of the track (I forget) jumps to mind with obvious variances in how each note of the acoustic bass was played, and the background noises in track one were sweet as a nut. Staging is a little false at times, and panning is overdone on some tracks, and while I could complain about some nuance here and there, I'd be picking fault in an highly enjoyable, toe tapping, trip down memory lane wit ha modern twist - personally I can't remember the last time I was so engaged by a single CD for an 1hour plus.

I have a blank area in my brain labelled "late sixties to early seventies" and right along side it another area with a big mamma honking padlock on it labelled "archived" that so far I don't have the balls to access

dude,I was fkn SIX and still listening to doo wop on the local diner's jukebox besides,I totally skipped the Beatles as being lightweight punks when I was old enough to begin choosing my own music that being durring the Viet Nam War era and a major time of change in my country on MANY levels was also the best music to ever be created here because the turmoil got the creative juices of protest music going. now days it is some punk whmpering about his squeeze leaving his dumb ass for someone else or being shorted on his allowance that passes for protest but THEN it was about the grand scheme and where we were all headed which if we seen THIS coming would likely all have continued drugging until we fell of a GD cliff rather than witness where the "I Want" society of no imagination is headed. I seriously wonder what would happen if the "brainiacs" of today, the folks in charge of shit that never had to do a GD thing for themselves and if they did failed, would be without their computers or their blackberries or their cell phones ? You think they could actually walk and chew gum at the same time ? Doubt it.When my generation passes the world will lose the last of the free spiritsthat are not only not afraid to tell those in charge to kiss our ass but actually KNOW shit because even when we were fked up sideways we still knew what time of day it was and knew when someone pissed on our leg that it was not raining out. From "can do" to "I want" and it only took thirt years ;D so yeah, came to the beatles late (other than SGT.Pepper ) because they were a bit "light" for the times here but have obviously worn well over the years making me a bigger fan now then I was when they were current.A thing I notice with a lot of the music from my time that is just as relevant today as it was back in the stone ages of music, another nail in the "modern youth" coffin 'cause from where I sit they haven't done shit to leave their own mark on the world unless you consider owning an iPod or stabbing someone in the back leaving a mark.......... Rant over
