A friend of mine knowing I am a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn and blues guitar work gave me a pleasant surprise last week,a CD I not only did not have but never heard of "Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughn In Session" on Stax,a label that has a solid lineup up old blues and Motown including some complations available no where else. anyway, this is less duet than it is storytelling and blow by blow with each artist chatting then playing a cut, chatting some more then the other artist doing a song, then finally jamming out together all as far as I can tell done "live" in studio.Name dropping (Hendrix,Middler....) and reminiscing the Mississippi Delta/New Orleans music scene-for me a real treat on all levels not the least of which is the "soul check" music that has an low level primordial energy that you can't help but sway to in time with the music. Nice to have friends with good surprises (plus to good sense to know who to kiss up to ) and this was a VERY pleasant one.Highly recommended
