That's the first batch of transformers depleted, it kind of took me by surprise and my timing has been awful! I ordered another 50 transformers on Friday so they should keep me going for quite some time, bad news is they won't be ready for 2 to 3 weeks. Custom made using the highest quality materials equates to best possible sound quality but it also means long lead times as each batch has to made to order and not sitting on a shelf ready for next day delivery.
I could easily phone up my original supplier tomorrow morning and have some off the shelf transformers delivered the following day but I'm not going back down that road, the custom designed units perform SO much better it's worth waiting for them just the same as waiting for a tailor made suit.
I expect to start shipping the second batch of Little Pinkies mid October so if you'd like one please order in advance and you'll be sure of getting one.
Mike.

Mike No wonder you are so damn tired after making all those Little Pinkies ! Guys Don't go telling all your mates how good they are, or Mike won't be able to find time to post in his own Forum ! SandyK

Mike, on which of the 3 V3 components that I have would you put the V3i? The remaining two V3 components would get one of the two older Little Pinkie's that I have. Try her on the amp for starters. The feedback I get from X10 v3 owners is incredible.... they report HUGE improvements.... sooooo give it a spin with the X10 v3 too..... also try with the X-DAC v3...... pretty daft question actually! You tell me

The next batch of transformers will be with me in a couple of days time so I hope to be shipping by the beginning of next week, maybe even the end of this week. Hopefully Royal Mail will be back to normal by then after their recent series of strikes

Mike did the package w/ the headband and Sennheiser DSP arrive? Strikes suck sometimes! Nope. Still in transit.

I don't believe it! The second batch of transformers arrived yesterday so I slotted them into 17 Little Pinkies..... not one of them worked!
It turns out somebody at the transformer company has only gone and wound them incorrectly. To say I am fuming mad would be an understatement, the transformer company have assured me I will have replacements in a few days and have apologised for the inconvenience.
Those of you waiting for your Little Pinkies will have to bear with me a few extra days.

Mike, if I may I would like to through you a curve (baseball term for those readers not familiar w/ it). Do you think here would be a market for Little Pinkies that could power two or even three of the Musical Fidelity Small X series? Thanks. Sorry about the transformers! At this rate of knots I'll be throwing myself out the nearest window Miguel. Once I fulfil the orders for Little Pinkies I'll have more time to think about your question, at this moment in time I don't want to think about transformers!

Sorry about this Gary, believe me it's more frustrating for me than it is for you..... everything was ready for the transformers to be slotted into position and they send me an entire batch that has been wound the wrong way round.... argh!!! They were extremely apologetic and "this definitely will not happen again" etc. I should fckin well think not considering these are hand made to my requirements! Let me go let off some steam!

Miguel Please don't start me off ! Your people came up with the vastly inferior NTSC TV standard. The English, and ,yes, even the French were far more technically advanced than that ! And their toilets flush in the same direction that yours do. ;D Alex

Miguel That will only happen completely if our Health authorities become as corrupt as your F.D.A. (arse lickers to Big Pharma ! ) Worringly, going by recent comments by Aurum, their long tentacles may have already infiltrated our mob. Alex

Miguel,
Further to your query last night about Little Pinkies with dual outputs I will be making some for the v2 small x series. These will power the likes of X-Cans, X-can v2, X-10D, X-pre, X-dac etc. but will not power the v3 series of x-ponents.
They will incorporate the same custom made transformer but will have two 15VA outputs instead of one 30VA output, 15VA being about 1250mA which is more than respectable enough and it's 1250mA per side from a quality transformer too!
This dual output transformer will be similar in price to the single output type. I'll build one up at the weekend and see how 15VA compares to 30VA in the SQ department.

Those of you waiting for your Little Pinkies will have to bear with me a few extra days. Update: The designer returned from holiday today and the single transformer I had sent back yesterday had been inspected by him. It turns out they had been wound incorrectly by someone who was covering for the main winder who had also been on holiday..... it had passed QC because the guy on QC was covering for the guy who is usually on QC (you've guessed it.... he was also on holiday) Jesus christ this could only happen in the UK! As soon as the big guys go on holiday the damned outfit collapses Good news is all the regulars are back from their break and I have been assured the replacement transformers will be with me next Tuesday "tops" so I will definitely be shipping by the end of next week. What a month this has been! Nationwide postal strikes, holidays, foot and mouth, blue tongue and a batch of incorrectly wound transformers.... I hope that's the end of the crazy season

Well, my Little Pinkie V3i has been in use for about 85 hours. Concurrently my X-10 V3 tube buffer was modded w/ a kit I purchased from Mike and it also has about 85 hours of use.
To give you an idea I am feeding the modded X-10 V3 w/ a Little Pinkie (not a V3i) w/ an X-Dac V3 w/ a Little Pinkie (probably a V2). Then from the X-10 V3 I go to a modded X-Can V3 w/ a Little Pinkie V3i.
The sound is amazing, to die for. The soundstage is so wide that you can park a truck. Yet it retains a cohesiveness that I have not heard from any other amp. The bass is more impactful, deeper, and clear than I have ever heard from the X-Can V3.
While all the above is going on the clarity, detail, warmth, and layering of the music is something that has to be heard to be believe. I will be saving money so I can buy two more Little Pinkies V3i for my X-10 V3 and X-Dac V3. I will also have to find the time to ship the X-Dac V3 to Mike so he can do his magic on it.
In closing I want to thank Mike for having made my listening time so enjoyable, w/o his hours of passionate tweaking and listening the X-Can V3 would be w/ the rest of the pack instead of the front.
Thanks Mike!

Update, since today I received my Green Solo from a loan to three independent listeners I decided to compare the sound out of the Green Solo w/ that of my modded X-Can V3. The headphones used were Senn HD580 w/ the grills from a Senn HD600 and the cable from a Senn HD650. The music was Oleta Adams, an R&B singer.
Well in our opinion the modded X-Can V3 had a bigger soundstage and deeper bass than the Green Solo. There was a bit of more air w/ the X-Can V3 as well. The mids were close.

The replacement batch of custom transformers arrived this afternoon so I will be hard at it for the next couple of days catching up with the backlog and expect to start shipping this Friday.
These delays will not happen again as I have prepared in advance. From the time you place an order for a Pinkie to the time I ship it will be a couple of days from now on in...... (the way it was before the hiccups with my previous transformer supplier) my apologies to those of you who have been waiting a few weeks, you will all be receiving your Little Pinkie v3i very shortly.
Mike.
