one of the reasons I like to source maxim part when I can www.maxim-ic.com/qa/pdfs/non-obsolescence-letter.pdfanother reason www.maxim-ic.com/emmi/lead_free_notice.cfmno doubt it will cost Maxim-Dallas more to keep two entire I.C. fabrcation lines open (leaded and lead free) as it will to continue to carry slow movers yet for the customer and for that reason alone they have the above policies in place.Very cool these days where "go screw yourself" is the norm . This does not mean I have zero respsect for ADI or TI-BB but I have to say i have been pissed off more than once to design something around what I though was a well established part only to see it go away forever (obsolete) causing me to scrap all the work and start allover again or now with the rohs directive causing TOTAL RoHs compliant parts taking over as a the only parts, again causing re-design.Re-evaluation and lost time. I get treated well by TI and ADI but I wish the policy were closer to Maxims rahter than a fllod of new parts every month, each more efficient than the onces that went before, each so fkn tiny I can't even hold it with needle nose pliers or see the damn things to solder them to a board,ALL RoHs comliant high heat assembly (on a substrate and with passive parts that HATE heat ) prick to work with parts that once you use them there is no parts rolling" possible so it is either a go or not hence back to square one if not instead of a slight side step in design.
