Perhaps this thread could eventually be moved to diy resources... What cases are available commercially for various projects? I have found various hammonds, etc. on Maplin, Farnell, etc. but would like to source a classy looking chassis for various projects (head amp / pre / psu / dac / whatever). What I did notice was over on the WAD forum www.worldaudiodesign.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19298Mark was asking if there was any interest in the WAD Series II and Headphone II cases. I for one would be interested in one of these. The Headphone II would be ideal for the idea I have for a pre / headphone / crossover/ perhaps even dac project. What do you all think? Any other ideas?

The Galaxy series look quite good. The Slimline are not bad either, although I would have to trim off the rack mount lugs - too unsightly.

I have to say, the casings that Avondale Audio use for the Graduation 2 pre-amp would make a lovely project. (select Products, then pre-amp from the side menu) www.avondaleaudio.com/

Galaxy looks a lot better in real life.... really good quality and as cheap as chips compared to the crap the UK companies stock. The pictures REALLY don't do it any justice Rod: That's the GX 383 (don't know if that model is still available) and it cost about £20...... 10mm thick front and rear panels.......... an enclosure like this in the UK would set you back £100 easily... pure quality. Audiokit is run by "Mauro" and it's really best to phone him and give him your card details, he's a bit laid back but speaks great English...... tell him you want the enclosure "urgently" and he'll get it over to you before Christmas......... Seriously tho.... make a point of saying "urgento" they are very laid back over there. Mike.

Wow!
Mike you are right about the Italian site pics not doing justice... Nice case, my search may have just ended!
What shipping method did you use, and how much did you pay?

It was something ludicrous like £27 shipped Rod, I really was expecting a piece of junk to arrive but was absolutely bowled over by the quality..... Williams Hart charge nigh on £80 for a piece of crap monocor enclosure, the galaxy is a thousand times better.... pure quality. I phoned Mauro in Italy (cost about £1.40) I e-mailed him first to ensure the enclosure was in stock and then phoned my CC details over. Be assured you're dealing with a kosher company. first class as long as you remember the "urgento" word Shipping was about 7 euros IIRC Quick Pack Europe (0 to 30 Kg gross weight) at 23 euros seems ok? probably faster. Check out their knobs whilst you're at it, they rock. All the best. Mike.

"Check out their knobs whilst you're at it, they rock." You better watch that this thread doesn't descend into chaos like the "Ever fancied a bigger knob" thread on P*nk F*sh. ;D Seriously though, You're right! The gold one would look good on a black case, as per Densen gear.

Try the top left-hand corner - scroll down to "cabinets and chassis" - click - right below, click on Hi-Fi 2000 - this opens the main window, they are all on there.
