Nice job, the revamped casework looks really smart.
Unfortunately I live in a signal black-spot and get really lousy television and radio reception. I don't watch much television anyway, but I still listen to the radio pretty much all day every day, but I now have to rely on internet radio.

Unfortunately I live in a signal black-spot and get really lousy television and radio reception. Can be a real problem. I think I would have to move if I got bad reception as my prime reason for good HiFi is radio. It is a shame that Radio 2 have just put a couple of "do you love me as much as I love myself" DJ's on in the evenings between 8 and 10 , this was always quality broadcast time. Now it just the same as day time shows.

Do you mean Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie? I really like them, I used to really like Mark Radcliffe and Mark Riley (Lard), when they were on 10 til midnight about 10 years ago, one mans meat is anothers poison I guess.

I can't stand Radcliffe and Maconie, give me Nigel Ogden "the organist entertains" any day over those couple of loudmouths Have any of you tuned into the Alan Titchmarsh show? It's like listening to fckin paint drying... what a boring show that is. Paul Jones' blues show is pretty good and I enjoy Steve Wright in the afternoon, sometimes dance around to the oldies. What will happen to your tuner when everything goes digital Kirk? Beautiful looking tuner it is, very well put together, I have an old Pioneer receiver outside and it's hooked up to a dedicated FM aerial (well worth getting one if you don't have one already) avoid boosters like the plague with audio.... they're fine with TV but just ruin the sound if connected to an FM aerial.

Have to agree with you their Mike about Radcliffe and Maconie. I like the tunes that Steve Wright plays, but he is another one if he was made out of chocolate he would eat himself. Folk on 2 has got to be one of my favourites, and radio 3's late junction can really cut it at times. Even Mark Lamarr(Git) plays some cool tunes. I know they still broad cast these shows but between 7 and 8( try this time with a small child) and then after 10 (need to go to bed because of small child)
Do not really want to think about analog turn off, but it is a long way off yet, 10 years at the very least. I manged to ask a question about it on Radio 4's Feed Back the Christmas before last. It was more about the environmental issues of the switch off(millions of analog tuners to deposed of and higher power consummation of DAB tuners), but they pretty much assured me on air that it not even in the pipe line yet.

Yeh man, Mike Harding does a pretty good job of that show. If you like folk you'd love it where I am Kirk, It's a real part of the culture here with many many good groups going about. I missed the Orkney folk festival this year but will make sure I get my arse over there next year.
I take it you haven't listened to the Alan Titchmarsh radio show then? It's enough to make you want to fall asleep and die, think of Bob Harris on valium playing Elgar and you'll get the idea, I try to avoid being in the vicinity of a radio when he's on. Don't get me wrong, I respect the man as a gardener but, fck, he's got rotten taste in music. As for that Elaine Page and her "musicals" on a Sunday and Michael Parkison with his "Michael buble" and scatting females like Cleo laine.... Sunday is a HORRID day on Radio 2 it really bugs me the way Parkinson says "Michael booooblay" in that annoying accent, he's also a great lover of that little shit Jamie cullum, give me a proper jazz artist anyday over that little piss ant.
Terry Wogan is another one I detest, bad enough waking up in the morning as it is but "waking to Wogan" is a fate worst than life itself! and that Jeremy Vine pratt, who the hell let that asshole on the radio? He always plays a classic and cuts in with his loud voice the moment the solo starts.... bastard! Just the other day he was playing Sultans of swing (dire straits) and I was all ready to air guitar to the solo when "IN THE NEXT HOUR WE'LL BE DISCUSSING TEENAGE PREGNANCY" there's nothing worse than these people thinking their loud voice is more important than the music.
Ken Bruce, not at all bad and I am a regular listener to "popmaster" (usually get between 21 - 30 points) that's been ruined at the moment with the BBC ban on competitions and now we have fckn "celebrities" answering the questions.... they spend so much time gabbling on and laughing it's totally ruined popmaster for us hard core popmaster listeners.
I wish they'd let Bob Harris do a 70's prog rock show, now that would be a class act indeed.... a bit like the OGWT but on radio.... awesome.

Love folk I get urges to Morris, but trying to keep it under control. Have you seen stick dancing when they black up and wave big bits of wood at each other, looks real brutal and dangerous but fun.
Alan Titchmarsh, I have listened to him for about 10 minutes, it has to be the worst show ever broadcast on any station bar none, how the f*&k did he get the gig. I have heard better music in a lift. TV presenters tend not to cut it on radio, as you mention Michael Parkinson. His jazz play list is more what you think he should be listing too, I bet he has never heard most of it before it is played on the show. Give me Humphrey Lyttelton any day. I agree about Jamie cullum, he has to be one of the most annoying penises (or is that pianists) I have ever heard. I once heard playing in Waterstones him doing a cover of The Cures Love Cats, I was nearly physical sick and had to leave the store very quickly before I projected over a pile of books. As for Elaine Page what a bitch woman who laughs like a 2 year old pig being strangled. My wifes back ground is theatre so I am forced listen as it is one of the shows she likes. I do not mind most of 2 in the morning, it is a real shame about pop-master. As for Jeremy Vine it is not him that gets to me but all the Pratt's who phone up with an opinion, although as mentioned above I did the same on Feed Back.

Sheesh, calm down guys, remember, other radio station are available. I have to say though, I really don't like the Radio 2 sunday line-up, Parkinson, Page and Titchmarsh, yawnsville. I like Wogan, but I'm rarely up at that ridiculous hour. I don't mind some of the music on Radio 1, but I can't stand the innane "yoof speak" that the DJs seem compelled to use. There are only so many times I can hear "wicked", "massive" and "bangin" before re-tuning.

Not many where I am man..... rad 2, rad 1, rad 3 , rad 4 , BBC Scotland and a few gaelic / local stations. Totally agree with you on that Elaine Paige women Kirk, her laugh is most annoying and, yes, just like a pig being strangled. I'd love to go to a Jamie Cullum concert and fire a fckin' grenade onto the stage and blow the arse out of his piano, he's terrible, how can so many people say he's a "genius" ? A genius? he's a little squirt with a most annoying style. If ever him and that screeching Joss Stone cow do a concert together I'll take two grenades along Have you heard Russel Brand on a Saturday? One radio show that I can listen to in its entirety on radio 2, it's different and in an odd way it works. That Mark Lamar bum boy is another presenter I can't stand and that fat Jo Brand accompanying his monotonous rubbish is even more nauseating..... I keep shouting at the radio and telling the two of them to "shut the effin hell up!" Jonathan Ross is much better than these couple of unfunny twats IMO. Whatever happened to Dave Diddy Hamilton or Kid Jensen or Johnny Walker or Dave Lee Travis..... all quality DJ's IMO. Bob Harris, Alan Fluff Freeman..... even Tony Blackburn.... real Dj's not bloody second rate comedians.... bring back the real DJ's!!

Have not heard the Russel Brand show, as Saturday nights I usually watch a couple of DVDs, keep meaning to though. Jonathan Ross is OK, what winds me up about his shows is every thing has to come back to him. As you say though he beats Lamar and Brand, but to be honest that is not to difficult. The only plus side with Lamar is he has about the best taste in music of all the presenters. I think my favourite DJ for personalty has to be Chris Evans. Friday nights show is pretty good for music.

Yes, he is very good "what's in your locker cocker?" getting married tomorrow to some woman apparantly. His last wife wasn't too bad as it goes (I'd give her one if she was lucky) haven't see a photo of his new wife yet. Old wife Oh yes, I just did a google for his new wife here she is: hmmmmm, not my cup of tea but you don't look at the mantlepiece when you're poking the fire..... he's no oil painting himself. Right, where were we? Radio 2, ah yes..... Sunday has never been the same since Desmond Carrington was removed from his desk. A class act combining the old with the new, "this is Desmond Carrington from my home in Perthshire" Halcyon days. If only these guys would return to the airwaves: oi ee oi ee oi owsabout that then!

Very interesting, unfortunately what the guy is saying below does sound about right for what will end up as weekday evening programing. You should hear the Organist Entertains on my set up, sounds amazing. The suggested weekend line up is not so bad though. Thank god for Radio 3 & 4, do not think their will be much change their.

I really like Mark Lamar and Jo Brand. I don't mind Chris Evans, but I prefered Johny Walker and I'm very rarely in on a Saturday night, so I've only heard Russel Brand once and I thought it was OK.
I quite like the Mike Harding folk music show, it's nice to hear something outside my usual listening genres.
John Peel was great and I used to like to listen to some of the weird and wonderful stuff he dug up. I'm sure he's sadly missed by a huge number of radio listeners.

Are you guys talking about Ancient Mode radio or F...ed up Mode radio ? Years ago I used to love listening to FM stereo on an old Trio valve FM stereo tuner with a ratio detector, for hours on end with the test music. These days I couldn't be bothered because it's a contest to see which station can sound loudest, and be run with preprogammed crap from MP3 carts, and faded in and out with annoying voice overs. I hope that in the evenings, they at least have an engineer on duty ?

OOPS! the Trio was mono, but sounded great on the national TV broadcaster's standby mode from the Canberra transmitter. These days, they have dumbed down the transmitting antennas so they don't reach so far at a good strength. The FM stereo was on a highly reviewed Pioneer F-90 tuner. Before lots of competiton, the signals had very little compression and sounded fabulous. I can't believe that what that guy said about "the organist entertains", it a quality programme IMO and if Rad 2 go the way he's suggesting I'll tune into radio Moscow.
