I take it from the lack of responses that "casting" is not something I need to do urgently

I've done a fair bit of "casting out" with my fishing rod over the years but have zero experience of casting from an Android? really? What the f**k happened to switching the TV on and watching either BBC1 or BBC2? Casting from an Android? Do you need a TV license to "cast" from an android? WTF is happening here? I really need to know Movies on your phone / movies "on the go".... can't these retards (with the attention span of a gnat) wait until they get home to watch a film?

Alexa what's the weather like?
"have a look outside you f**kin' moron!"
Alexa, dim the lights
"get off your lazy fat arse and dim them yourself wanker!"
Alexa, how BIG is my cock?
"Very small, would you like to order a cheesburger with your small gherkin?"

"Very small, would you like to order a cheesburger with your small gherkin?" Well, I think you figured this one out by yourself. Your Alexa has the Mounty Python mod for cynical Scotsmen. You have to do 21,5 silly walks to unlock your proper French language setting. Anyway... you can connect digital stuff using chomecast in your house. Indeed even watch movies on the go because the view outside the window of the train is too boring. In a few years we won't talk to each other at all. The last years we went to Denmark and had to spend a day driving in the car. We could have thrown ipads at the kids but we found out that audiobooks are much more fun. The kids look out side and see a bit of the world we pass thought. Still they don't fight because they want to hear what Harry Potter does next. A win win win situation to me.

I take it from the lack of responses that "casting" is not something I need to do urgently Haven't room in my life for another gadget. I'm like you on 'casting'. No idea what it is. I can 'stream' music from computer to hi-fi, I can plug a USB drive into my hi-fi and play back from there (my usual replay method; it's beautifully straight forward) and... I have an Amazon Firestick... I know how the Firestick works. But I find it too much trouble to use its search facility and actually locate and get to the item I want*. It sits, unused, hanging out the back of my Oppo player. [edit] * If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, like me, you get Amazon Movies (like a cut down Netflix) and an Amazon music thingy (a bit like a cut-down Spotify). Any Firestick user please expand on this? [one more edit] If you like crap American TV or crap American 'comedy' movies then Amazon Prime TV is just what you need.

What does this fire stick thing actually do? Do you get free TV channels on it?

That's about the size of it.
I bought the Firestick as it was very cheap plus I have an Amazon Prime account, which includes the Amazon movie/TV prog thing. But, as I said, hard to search and navigate. Plus, anything I do want to see seems to be in an 'Premium charge' category; 'Rent this program for £3.99' or whatever. Which I didn't expect as a Prime customer.
