May 26 marked the end of all Radio Shack Stores in Florida. During May you could buy anything in the store for 60% off. Got a pair of LED pilot lights in machined, chrome plated housings for $1.37 as opposed to $3.98. Then yesterday on our way back from my wife's Cardiologist; we stopped at Krispy Cream Doughnuts, with the idea to each buy the signature product. Very surprised when the clerk said they were free. We did not know it was National Doughnut Day & they were giving everyone a free doughnut.
Doughnuts aside; we lost the last of the electronic hobby magazines almost 10 yrs. ago & now the one local source for parts in a pinch. No one in the states wants to build, they just want to buy ready to use items. I envy our Aussie friends, having Silicon Chip Magazine & Altronice & Jaycar for local parts sources. Truth be known I only went to R.S. when I was designing new circuits & did not have a particular part in my stock.
