What sort of lowlifes are these people? The man hasn't even been buried yet!! I hope he's left his fortune to a dog's home.

He wasn't a pretender he was the real deal. What you saw was what you got and what you got was a Grade A class act natural performer.
I absolutely DETEST people who claim they are somebody but turn out to be nobodies.
Rick wasn't one of those wasters, he was the real deal.

I'm not at all tuned in to American politics or the people who are involved in it. Mike.

When it comes to Pizzagate or the Clinton Foundation, we're all one big family. Nothing to worry about though. Business as usual.

I pretty much go to pieces confronted by three people but am fine with a few hundred........ maybe he was just out of his comfort zone not having the rest of the band with him.

It's all true, but worse. I like the chance to rant a little, since there is so much. Anyone who lived through the "British Invasion" knows that not only did it radically change youth culture in the U.S., the advent of gurus and bodhisattvas via George Harrison and others changed the culture in other major ways. During that first wave beginning in earnest in 1964, we rediscovered the blues via the Beatles, Stones, Animals, Yardbirds and others. We should have known those blues better, but the middle-America "white" culture frowned on it and blocked most radio stations from playing Black music or anything they thought was Black, unless covered here in the 50's by Pat Boone etc. or in the 60's by the Beatles. In the 1980's through 2007 I drove cross-country solo about 30 times, about 2600 miles per trip. On most of those trips, I sampled local radio stations, and especially the "oldies" programs. It amazed me, having a decent collection of oldies myself, how much those stations "whitened" the music, especially by the 1990's. So sad, that people find it difficult to know their own musical history, and discover it for the first time when it's re-introduced from abroad. But even though I have a lot of favorites from the 50's through the 2000's, in every decade, my all-time favorite music is New Wave more-or-less, exemplified by Flock of Seagulls, Altered Images, A-Ha, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Culture Club, Hubert Kah, Icicle Works, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Naked Eyes, New Order, OMD, Psychedelic Furs, Simple Minds, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soft Cell, Tears for Fears, Thompson Twins, Smiths, Modern English, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Fixx, Boomtown Rats, Adam Ant, etc. etc. It was a magical time, with KROQ in L.A. and MTV playing all of these amazing videos, then eventually MTV was taken over by fascists and KROQ went to hell. But it wasn't all just Newwave in the 80's on MTV et al. We had lots of good rock-n-roll by musicians like Billy Squire, Greg Kihn Band, ZZ Top etc., but in the process of gutting MTV and the Newwave revolution, there was no room for bands like Status Quo. I was a big fan of the Pretty Things, but they were ignored too. In the U.S., we don't have culture per se, that is, there's no BBC type of organization that represents a national culture. All we have is National Public Radio and Public Television, but all they do is fund-raising for crooked politicians. They haven't a clue about culture.

Ah, the knife reaching from beyond the grave, delivering the Shakespearean unkind cut to the unwary bandmate. This could be epic.

Ah, the knife reaching from beyond the grave, delivering the Shakespearean unkind cut to the unwary bandmate. This could be epic. I find it quite sad Dale.... two guys together for over 50 years "rockin' all over the world" to then discover that there was quite a bit of tension between them from a half written book half written by Rick before he died. Whoever has their hands on this "book" could be making it all up, you just don't know these days, the bloody "media" have a habit of making it up as they go along and, before you know it, it becomes "fact". It's already being debated on the unofficial Quo forum with ZERO evidence that this "book" even exists: statusquo.boards.net/thread/7192/chronology-rick-treatedI must say, having met the two of them on two occasions, that Francis Rossi was quite a rude geezer (behind the scenes) and Rick was the perfect gentleman (as was Rhino). At the backstage "meet and greet" (Caird Hall Dundee / 2001) Francis was clearly pissed off having to "meet and greet" a few people backstage...... I wasn't part of the meet and greet but was backstage saying hello to Rhino and, thus, in the dressing rooms before the 10 "meet and greet" punters turned up. Rick was tuning up his guitar, Rhino was drinking wine and Rossi was wandering about in his underpants (seriously!!). The support act was on and one of the crew came into the dressing room and said "10 minutes before the meet and greet!" Rossi exclaimed "f**k that for a laugh!" but Rick and Rhino were well up for it. I went into the meet and greet area and got my photo taken with Rossi and Parfitt and Rossi insisted that I bend down because he wanted to look taller than me! I'm 6 foot four inches, he's about 5 foot eleven inches..... I said to him "you're having a laugh midget man" and he replied "get down you lanky bastard!" That's why I'm laughing in the photo! www.rock-grotto.co.uk/Status%20Quo.htmIt was all in good humour but none of that crap with Rick, he got his photo taken without being concerned that I may appear "taller" than him..... he was a true gent and a decent geezer.... Francis always came across as a bit of a bully boy, and fancied himself as one of the lads. Thing is, his "get down you lanky bastard" thing worked wonders...... not that often that I smile in a photo!! Jesus, was that really 16 years ago..... how time flies and how digital cameras have improved!!!
