Good quality photos Dale. Typically "America" though...... everything seems so plastic and pasteurized compared to countries that have a culture stretching back a bit longer. It's almost as if every building / person / place is stage managed over with you.... it all looks so "Stepford Wives". I don't mean that as an insult, more of an observation from my viewpoint (thanks to your wonderful photography). Are there no local "characters" (ie: down and outs who were once millionaires or a building in a state of disrepair?). What happened to the REAL America? Where are the photos of the alcoholic native indians or the ghettos where all the "one time" slaves survive in these days? Have a look at this guy's photos......... Swinging sixties my Royal arse! The place was still pretty much rubble thanks to the Gerries blitzing it to the ground.

I'm quite liking these , the inside shots but also really like the after sunset one. I struggle getting decent shots like these mainly because of over crowding and tbh being around more than a dozen people irritates me I can appreciate the time that goes into post processing , I'm quite lazy in this area and need to get some practicing in :$

The little plastic HM Elizabeth on the dash (QE2) is very attractive but I'd prefer to f**k the driver..... she looks quite attractive in a "I'm a deep south girl who creams her knickers at anything Royal family / British related"....... Me: Hello there, nice mini! Her: Wow!, are you from Great Britain? Me: Yes I am. Her: Would you please f**k the eyeballs out of me? Me: Yes, of course, please allow me the courtesy of unrobing before I penetrate your vagina. Her: Oh, you British guys are so polite!

No, seriously, you must be a damned nice guy Dale..... your photos involving people all see them smiling, that tells me a lot about you..... you're a nice bloke who gets on with people in any situation.
I've had quite a few people telling me that you are a red neck "gun toting" loser but they are the losers, not you.
You're a damned decent sort Dale and if I'm ever over in Charleston it would be a pleasure to meet you.
Mike.

She has this thing about toes... Anyway, I haven't told her yet that my camera is the Paul Smith custom edition, and Sir Paul Smith was knighted by Her Majesty. I like toes too! As long as they are painted and clad in 8 denier nylon......... give her my e-mail address Dale

The 'Pipes' band played a nice selection of Irish and Scottish music. The lighting seemed to favor a little too much blue, or maybe that impression is driven by the costumes. --- I've tried the photo of the church from the lot 2 blocks away many times, and never kept any, due to the clutter in the parking lot. This time I cropped more of the irrelevant stuff from the bottom, and I think it looks a little weird, but I really wanted to have this view, so I'll see how I like it down the road. Leica X2 Paul Smith edition, f5.6, 1/320 handheld, ISO 200. Leica X2 Paul Smith edition, f5.6, 1/1600 handheld, ISO 200. Jeez man.... that place "Charleston" reminds me so much of "The Prisoner" (a 1960's UK classic series)..... it was set in a place almost as plastic / artificial looking as Charleston. A purpose made town "Portmeirion" (in Wales)....... kind of reminds me of "the prisoner" every time I see images of Charleston. Charleston is pretty much a "new build" without any history or culture........... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Prisoner_episodesen.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prisoner

Normally I would never consider shooting the X2 at 1/5 second handheld, given that the X2 does not have a true optical VR/IS. But when I'm in a hurry and snapping more-or-less spontaneously, I sometimes do that and just accept that I might lose the images to blur, if it's not critically important to get the shot. This image was selected from 2 bursts of 8 each - 16 total, and it was the sharpest, plus I helped it along a little in post processing. Leica X2 Paul Smith edition, f5.6, 1/5 sec. handheld, ISO 400. I would shoot my X2 all over those two all day long...... if they begged me
