The nice thing with these units is the I/V section, they do something a lot of companies used to miss and thats add a proper DC nulling circuit on the TDA1541A outputs before feeding the first stage I/V , the standard capacitors used there was prone to go noisy so adding low leakage types helped a lot, a few tricks around the clock circuitry and analogue section , clean up pre and post regulation and she's good to go

Yeah, I knew that! 😉 Cheers Leo. Do these old players still compare favourably with something like the Beresford DAC's?

Also Leo, am I correct in assuming that it doesn't matter if it's an Alpha 5 or an Alpha 5 Plus? Correct , only difference is the removable audio board

NOS will always sound different to any oversampled (OS) dac (all newer dacs are OS) , the newer ones add different spices but still can miss that thing you get with NOS . The Beresfords are very good for the money, I've not heard the latest ones so can't really comment . Personal taste I guess , some people like the extra top end of OS based units, things have improved though so a lot of decent newer sounding units out there now These days people are transferring their cds to hard drives and running either USB based dacs or running SPDIF from a sound card ,seems CD's are dead

Thank you. I'm happy enough using the Arcam CD player. I guess I'm old fashioned.
