BT Mains Conditioners

I've just moved house and the old place had quite an old electrical installation that I always felt contributed to the rather muddled sound I often had during the day and evening on my set-up. In the small hours the sound often opened up with amazing detail. I tried all sorts of things from plug in conditioners from Isotek and the like in order to get that night time sound during the day. I even tried a balanced transformer. I thought I could hear a subtle difference with some of the changes but it never sounded quite as good as it could at 3am. I've read somewhere that your ears can be different at night when the eardrum becomes more relaxed but I haven't seen much information on that.
Moving to the new place, I have a much more up to date electrical installation and I thought it sounded marginally better even without any treatment. It still didn't have that relaxed sound that could respond to changes in dynamics easily without sounding congested. I experimented with the various things I have including the Tacima mains conditioner. I had the uneasy feeling that it was also sucking the life out of the sound.
Early days yet but I've just dusted off my BT Mains Conditioner and connected that up and I think that I have the best sound I've heard in the new place so far. A detailed and open sound that seems to be able to respond to sudden dynamic range changes without sounding like it's being strangled.
So in among all this I have a question to anyone who has dabbled with this same problem. What have you tried and what has worked and what hasn't worked? Also, I know there have been threads on here before about the BT Mains Conditioner, but I wonder if anyone is currently using one, or more than one in their set up and what they think of it.
