Given the amount of Zoom needed, and a camera that by today's standards could be considered more average, the photos are actually pretty good, and the degree of "softness" in the images is to be expected.

Some very nice shots there, I love kestrels and lucky to get within 50 yards, I'd be more than happy with 30 feet. Soon as I win the lottery I'll treat myself to a 600mm f4 prime. For me capturing the moment to share is far more important than getting the sharpest image. Sometimes I had to rely on my Note 4 phone if no camera on me although a bird would usually look like a dot. One of the biggest challenges for me is decent light, as can be expected the weather over here is shite 90% of the time

Those are excellent , I still need a lot of practice especially if I get that heavy 150-600 sigma sport lens . I have a tripod with gimbal head but never use it when out walking, I prefer handheld rather than faffing about with a tripod , VR for static birds or fast shutter obviously with VR off for BIF .

Kodak Playsport ZX5 - Bulgaria 2016. The birds I was eyeing up were the two at the end of the short clip....... I sounded like Lesley Philips with my "ooh I say!" stupid comment Of course, it was 11am in the morning and I'd only had a few pints of beer so "ooh I say!" was pretty damned sporting if you ask me....... if that had been 8pm I would have turned into Sid James with more of a "corr type grunt" Sid's famous grunt:

Kodak Playsport ZX5 underwater test. Bulgaria again...... a nice young girl was more than happy to help me test the underwater capability of the camera Rob, my 68 year old mate (friend) was also very willing to partake in the test

This was "pinhead" a great friend of mine..... he loved eating "pinhead oatmeal"...... I think this was probably shot on a Nikon coolpix...... nothing special but it reminds me of pinhead who was sadly killed by a car:

Nothing whatsoever to do with birds (sorry for going off topic) but this guy has always amazed me with his idea of how Russian people dance

Looks like the little Kodak was more than up to the job Matron Love the end bit with Pinhead Henry, the latest pheasant would actually come into the kitchen Leo..... he knew that I wasn't out to harm him and he would take sunflower seeds direct from the palm of my hand..... he was a funny pheasant and either very clever or very stupid....... About a month ago I spotted a dead pheasant on the road (road kill) when I was driving out of the track onto the road...... Henry has never been seen since and I feel quite sad to have lost him :-( There is a new one in the garden / along with a pair of partridges but they are really wary and off like a shot the minute they see me...... Norman (the wood pigeon) is the same, he's at the feeding station at 8am EVERY morning but if you so much as glance at him from the kitchen window he's off like a bat out of hell. All of the small tits, finches etc. don't give a f**k....... when I fill the seed tray up they will quite happily sit there and are comfortable with me getting close to them. You'll probably think I've lost my head but I really do miss Henry....... even to this day I still shout out "come Henry" hoping that he will appear. The Pair of partridges are so funny..... you just open the back door and they both run off like "fast moving" partridges..... they never fly, they just run like mad! They are slowly realising that there is no need to run and the back door opening means a "seed drop"...... they still run off but are soon back (within a minute)..... they know the score Still pretty upset over losing Henry to a motorist but these things happen..... doing my best (as always) to keep the regulars fed and watered. All the best leo, Mike.

I have (just) SERIOUSLY tried to replicate said dance and have ended up falling on my arse and breaking a wooden arm off a chair......erm, not good BUT it's never too late to act like a loon...... we are only around this way once, go for it!

All the best leo, Mike. Nothing mad about respecting wildlife, I'd be highly honoured if we had a Henry that would come in the kitchen waiting for a handful of seed .Nearest we got was a female Blackbird that I used to hand feed mealworms , she only got this tame after her eggs had hatched in the nest so probably just taking advantage of an easy meal for the babies . Theres a couple of Robbins thats started waiting for suet pellets . We usually see Pheasants if driving down country lanes , we almost ended up in a ditch more than once so not to run over them Heres mrs blackbird 18886398845_f6b6d61d37_o by leon kirkbride, on Flickr
