OK - here's my Tesco rib. Decided to take it out of 'fridge and unwrap for the night. A sort of compromise. In the oven tomorrow at 9 am, 120 C for 4 to 5 hrs I reckon. Then oven up to 'nuke' to finish. Derek

It was nice and tender Derek but nothing special. It made a lovely gravy and the sprouts and carrots were lovely...... VERY tender but so is butter.
Worth £20? NO
A taste thrill? NO
Would you have preferred a Big Mac?> YES
Would you have preferred a doner kebab? YES

That's a real shame Mike. Ours was totally successful. Fine flavour and very 'fall-apart' tender. I roasted it for 3 1/2 hrs at 130C, then an hour at 190C. As I said, ours was Tesco at £10 per kilo. Not trying to outdo you Mike with 'mine was better and cheaper'; it's always the luck of the draw with meat. Even a good butcher can get let down occasionally by his supplier? Photo of cooked joint will follow :-) but only a phone pic as main camera's SD card is acting up. Time to log on to Amazon I think.

Derek.... it was roast beef and no better than my standard silverside roast joint. It was pretty much the same apart from the high lard content of the rib roast..... UBER tender, tasty and nice. What alpha male man, in his right mind, would prefer roast beef over a doner kebab or a Big Mac? Roast beef is OK but a good doner kebab really hits the spot. All the fart arsing about with a Sunday joint does is pisses you off..... give me a doner kebab or a Big Mac any day over that malarky. Give me fish and chips anyday even

Can't remember the last time I had a kebab. Probably before I moved from Southampton in '97, back in my band days. Nothing more satisfying than a kebab or a burger van burger after a late gig :-)
I prefer Burger king to McDonalds by the way. Double Whopper Cheese, no pickle, extra cheese, bacon.

Derek I agree about Burger King. At least it tastes of something. I like the Bacon Double. Haven't had one for ages Foggy in Southampton today, by the way.

Foggy up here too Chris! I came home from town (in the dark) and the visibility was about 20 feet PLUS it was raining and parts of the road were flooded...... I was the only car on the road for the entire 12 miles and it was damned spooky! I don't mind fog and I don't mind rain but the two together are absolutely hellish, especially when you suddenly find yourself driving across 6 inches of water!
Burger King never quite did it for me..... I always find their burgers to be a bit dry and hard to swallow but each to their own. My nearest MacDonalds is 120 miles away so I only have one probably once a year when I find myself down South in Inverness. There aren't any global fast food joints up here in Caithness, and it's a much better place for it, so it's always nice to sample a global burger when I go down the road to "civilisation".
