I have a pair of older Pioneer PD-M403 CD changers (1996). One of them had the laser lens fall out. (happens) Somehow I found it again and reattached it. Now the spindle motor will not spin. Here's the kicker. I can put the laser/spindle assembly from this player (player A) in the other CD player (player B), and it works/plays great. So the lens reattachment was a success. The laser/spindle assy in player B also works (in player B) When I put the laser/spindle assy from player B, into player A, the spindle will not turn. (actually, it tries to turn but fails and stops for both spindles)
It would appear that the motor controller is bad/out of whack/out of calibration etc. for player A. That said, here's the question: If a laser lens falls out of place, does the machine somehow "fall out of calibration" or something to that effect? The CD player worked perfect up until the lens fell out.
Is there a known common component failure (capacitor, resistor, etc) that causes this issue?
If anyone is spun-up on this issue (see what I did there?) I surely would appreciate your help!
Thanks!!
