Alright, so I've been looking around for mods to the Superlux 668B and I've done my 24 hour heavy burn test from the rockgrotto burn in tracks. I've been contemplating on purchasing velour pads (specifcally the beyerdynamics dt7xx, 8xx, 9xx series pads which are very thick and soft). So i'm really curious about the filter mod, soundstage mod, and the dampen mods. I've seen this tutorial but i was wondering what kind of a difference in result will i be getting from doing these mods on these specific headphones. I do hear that the 681 mods are very similar, I've seen a few posts about people doing aluminium rings on them, replacing the wire. So my questions are, will replacing the wire really improve the quality of the sound? How much of an improvement will i be getting from doing the filter, soundstage and dampening mods? Anybody know if the aluminium rings can be applied on the 668B since i notice there is a tiny difference in how they're built compared to the 681? Sorry in advanced if i'm asking stupid questions, i'm a bit of an audiophile but I've never modded headphones before.

Please remember that this is now a fairly old thread, and that many who have done these things have moved on. Personally, I would buy higher quality headphones to start with, however the dampening mods may be worthwhile, as well as the simple filter mods if you are able to obtain the specified components. I would be wary of doing internal modifications such as with wire, as you may end up with an unusable headphone. The aluminium rings were a one off run by a talented machinist , and have been unobtainable for some time.

Mafisometal, I've been using a pair of 668Bs for almost two years now... I'm quite impressed with the sound (for the money paid); I made them more comfortable by replacing the ear pads with velour ones and also I have improved reasonably the sound by using JD Labs CMoy little amp... However I kept wandering what other mods one can do on this type of HPs; I see you were mentioning a 'tutorial' but clicking on the link I only can get an almost empty page with some South Asian wording :-( Please, can you review this link...? Many thanks! :-)
