This could be interesting. Maybe even mounting the device Under the circuit board? As it is, I only own V2 models, but of course, they wouldn't have a way for the Burson or otherwise to be used. They have some Bursons on sale in Canada, and it got me to thinking where they could even be placed.

Thanks Mike. Yes, I was wary of the possibility in the first place, not to mention heat issues.

I have never owned a version one, but the op amp sticks out as a question to me. Would a discrete circuit that some companies make for this purpose be a good bet for this? The plug in circuits that they make are pretty expensive, like Burson, and some others. In the end, I just wondered if it is worth it?

It would have been so much easier if I had just bought the kit. A little here, a little there, I thought... no big deal, until you aren't getting exactly the parts you need. Truth is, I don't enjoy modding near as much as the music itself. I must have taken that can apart 6 times as parts came in. Interesting though, every so often you would hear a difference. New power caps=better bass; new coupling caps=more clarity; better power supply=just better all round.

So, I got this idea, and hear me out until I have explained my reasoning. As we know, the X10 D PSU provides 12 volts of power to up to four X10 D units. It does this by the use of four separate secondary windings. Having said that, then I would imagine it to be possible to use TWO of these windings to feed power to an X10 V3, as it requires a 24 volt center tapped input. To me, this seems reasonable. What say you?

I'm still learning the site, so bear with me. I built a set of cabinets to house full range Audio Nirvana 12" drivers awhile back. Was looking to make them and then sell them. Man, I just can't do it. It happens sometimes that you stumble onto something that is just you, and why would you give that up? It was a relatively easy bass reflex build, and when the drivers first arrived, I thought that I had just wasted $300 US on drivers. As many of you have ex perienced, the drivers broke in, and changed quite dramatically with a few hours time. Well crap, can't load my files at this time, sorry.

Thanks for the idea. I get such a kick out of working on this stuff! The units that I have on hand are 3 X10 D units, and two X10 V3 units. I'm thinking that this screen can be incorporated in the X10D? Guess I'll have to take a look later and see. These units are very cool because the of the quality chassis, and the simplicity of the circuit itself. In the last unit that I have upgraded, I finally got around to increasing the size of capacitors to 1200uf, made by Panasonic, the FM model. FWIW, so far, I have used Harmonex tubes, and they probably sound better than the old ones just because they aren't shot. Anyway, I'm having a blast with units, and see no end in sight. In the near future, I would like to experiment by using battery power. That might get interesting.
