There are quite a few of these DACs on the market, and many of them are being passed along for the MKII version. This makes the Bushmaster MKI an affordable ideal candidate for a performance upgrade. In this thread I am going to cover the upgrade of the overall sound output. That's line and headphones. The standard output from the DAC chip has a filter network made up of R28/R29 and MLC2/.MLC21 Replacing R28 and R29 with a couple of metal film or equivalent low noise resistors of 1/8 or 1/4 Watt and a value of 120 Ohms is the first thing to do. Next, replace MLC21 and MLC22 with a 10nF or 15nF WIMA cap. That's for a "standard" performance. But if you got hearing that drops off after 15K, like I do, then you can try out a lower value cap. The ones in the picture are 2.2nF. The main reason for that is that I use this DAC with my HD650 headphones, which have a poor HF response as it is. Using 2.2nF seems to do the trick for the HD650. But the Line output might then be too bright for some/many. So stick to 10nF or 15nF if you are going to be using this mod with speakers.
