What's everyone using these days as their main set of 'phones? Your first choice of headphones for day to day listening.

My every day, i.e. @ work, 'phones are the trusty HD560ovII with a cardas cable. They sound decent on modest kit and very good on the better stuff. If I've got a moment to listen in peace then the K550 gets plugged in but only on the better set up.
At home it's mainly my K701 on the Aclass HP amp, sometimes swapped out for the HD600.
More casual listening at home is on some old K280.
Occasional portable use is with Hisound Audio PAA-1 ear buds.
Any others I have just get the odd dusting off once in a while.

Hi Nigel My preferred headphones are the Audio Technica W1000 which are used with my own Class A HA via a highly modified MF X-DAC V3 with a Dual regulated external PSU, from coax SPDIF out of an Asus Xonar D2X soundcard.
Kind Regards Alex

I'm still using the AKG K1000 fed by a Bantam Gold amp with an SLA 12v battery supply.
I don't have any headphones for outside use currently since the demise of my Sennheiser PX100's. I will need to find something to replace them as I'm trying to include more walking in my life as a form of gentle exercise. Great to hear music whilst on the move.

Hi Nigel, I don't do a "lot" of headphone listening these days (well, not a lot as compared to almost 8 hours an evening a few years back!) but when I do pop under the hood for a listen my main beaters are the trusty old Senn HD 25-l MK2 pro 70ohm (Made in Ireland) they are bullet proof and have a pretty jack of all trades signature to them. I've still got all of my headphones in the collection but rarely listen for "pleasure" these days..... I'm surrounded by music all day (whether it be in the workshop or in the car) so give my ears a rest in the evening. You're not going to believe this but I've taken an interest in "television" and can be found watching re-runs of "minder" (Arthur Daley) and the "Professionals" of an evening..... I have also taken to antiques and vintage watches and am getting into both big time Everything these days is becomming more and more stressful so it's good to go back to simplicity and function.... all a watch needs to do is tell the time, any more than that and it becomes a multi function device where the hands become almost impossible to read. All a phone needs to do is to take incoming and make outgoing calls..... any more than that it becomes a multi purpose device prone to all sorts of privacy invasion, nonsensical "social media" type device, torch, barometer, compass, update me with the latest software version (frequently) type device. I'm really trying to get back to stress free "basics" and the future (based on infrastructure which is still running trains over "Telford" bridges) is about to go go tits up any day now. Got a problem with your phone line? Spend 35 minutes getting connected to a call centre in India. Spend another 20 minutes listening to the "fact" that the problem is in your house (after the BT main socket) and slit your wrists at your leisure! I have been in this house over 10 years now and not ONCE has a BT engineer come to "routinely" service the line (which is a wooden pole and line type connection) yet somebody in "India" is pretty sure that the fault lays "after the BT master socket"? Too many people in this country sitting on their arses in front of computers and not enough climbing up poles..... THAT'S the truth!! We are relying on the work, the infrastucture, that was put in place YEARS ago to keep working..... whenever it fails there is NOBODY in place to repair it, it's an absolute scandal and a sure fire sign that the UK (formerly the British Empire) has gone to the dogs. It will hit home very fast when the Chinese come a marching in and force whip the natives of the UK into climbing poles....... "You can't be serious mon innit, Ow can I survive climbing da pole, you is takin' da piss.... I is entitled to me benefit, dat is WORD!..... How is I supposed to live on de benefits (rude bway) you are a ras clat and I demand me rights under de "human" raights act mon"..... BANG! It isn't cricket, fair enough.

Hi Mike,
Man, you missed on your forte in life. You should have been a journalist or author.
Not familiar with those 'phones you mention. Will check them out.
The Professionals are good but dated. Minder on the other hand, truly excellent. George Cole is genius. I love the episodes with Gary Webster in as well. Television don't get much better. They seem to get funnier the more you watch them and ITV4 keep repeating.
You just hanker for London late seventies / early eighties. It's in your blood, it's what you're about. I can relate to that totally, I'm not far behind you in years, old bastards us both, they were great times.
Telford bridges? Nature destroyed that Brunel piece of Great Western engineering in Devon today. Nothing lasts forever.

I loved the Waterman days BUT found it a lot more funny when it focused on the (post Waterman) "Arthur Daley comedy hour" George Cole deserves to be "SIR" Daley, absolute comedy genius! (IMO) "You wouldn't have survived WW2 being blitzed by the Lufthansa" Great times and a really TRUE insight to the London that was post war...... It's a shame that genecide has taken place and London is no longer that wonderous place it once was. An entire culture and race wiped out in the name of "multiculturalism"......... Give me Arthur ANY day, that's the London I know and love!

Chris, No, the sea got the better of a piece of railway track in Dawlish, Devon. m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26042990I always associate that railway with Brunel as I know he constructed the fabulous Tamar bridge leading Devon into Cornwall.

Nigel, aha, yes I saw that, with the road alongside damaged too. I used to drive down there twice a month for work!
Lots of other places I know well in the sw also badly effected, I lived just outside the current flooded area of the Somerset levels. If was I was still working there I'd be having a right old time getting to customers. Especially in Cornwall, so many places flooded or severely damaged.
Even up in Surrey, where I was born, there's flooding in many of my childhood romping areas. The weather's certainly gone nuts in the UK this year. I see the Bay of Biscay is also kicking up and causing coastal damage. Nature giving the pesky humans a good old slap this winter.

We have some of this in common on the East coast of the U.S. - very strange weather this winter. I imagine it's being generated in the Gulf of Mexico region and then follows the Gulf Stream across the pond to the U.K. within a couple of days. But here on the East coast we even had a storm of very narrow width that sat on us for two days producing an ice storm in the deep South, which isn't equipped for ice. Looking at the radar maps it was bizarre.

I'm using my K702's driven by a Yulong Dah1 Mark 2 Dac/Headphone amp, which I find to be a great combination. I did try a Peachtree Decco 2 but found it was a bit too tame for my taste - which is odd really as I listen to a lot of female acoustic stuff. The more expensive Decco just seemed to be a little bit less immediate than the Yulong ( which was about a third of the price) and so was quite disappointing. I love the clarity and airiness of the AKG, feeling that I can hear every nuance in the music. When I want a bit more bass I will put on the Denon AH D 2000's which I like almost as much. I modified these by packing out the ear muffs to take the transducers a little further from the ear and this did clean up the bass as it could be a little muffled as stock.
