I've tried to shoot this 50 different times but the result was always meh. Today it seemed to work. Just a very simple photo of a corner of my room. There's no vignetting here since the image was cropped on all 4 sides, yet there's an optical illusion I see with some editors or viewers and not others - to the extreme left of the plant and about the same height is a dark vertical strip that seems to stay on the left side when viewing the image at 100 percent on a 1280x1024 monitor, and scrolling to the right. That dark strip should scroll off of the screen but doesn't, with some viewers. f0.95, 1/360 handheld, ISO 800.

Hi Dale Sounds like a likely scenario, as I honestly doubt that any of the Admins would delete any posts. Perhaps Derek can remember what he posted, and post it again ? Kind Regards Alex

OK. I said something like...
Really nice work. You have been moved to try and capture a particular aspect of your home. You saw something in the way the light fell that needed capturing and developing.
Could we all maybe take that as a theme and look for similar, everyday, ordinary placess in our own homes. Black and white naturally. I'm home alone tomorrow and will try. Anyone else?

DOH!
Have found my original posting on my sleeping laptop. Was interrupted at work yesterdayand didn't press 'send' before I closed the lid before leaving. So the message was still there this morning.
This is what I was writing...
"Now I think this is a really nice piece of work. You obviously saw something you wanted to capture and deveop. Yet it's 'just' a shot of a particular aspect of your house that said something to you.
Could we all take your idea as a brief? Maybe we can find something... something in our houses that we feel warrants a similar effort. Maybe the shadows cast by the light through a slightly open door. Maybe the way stairs disappear into the darkness of an unlit landing. Black and White, of course.
I'm home on Monday. But from now until then I'll be looking, and trying to remember where I put my tripod."
