As some may know I've been pondering updating my main PC for a while now. On recent searches I found what might be for me on the Overclockers site This one. I doubt the options I selected will show so; with (I can upgrade things like the optical drive, graphics etc later.) Any peeps out there have experience with the OC guys and the quality of there goods? Good, bad, indifferent? I was also looking at the Zoostorm 7877-0431 but they don't take Paypal so the old CC would have to take a hit.

I have purchased bits from OC in the past and generally they have been good. I do however remember standing in a queue behind a lady trying to return a motherboard on behalf of her son and they were more than a little rude and the manager totally misunderstood the Sales of Goods Act and how their contract terms should be applied. It was the last purchase I made from them albeit at about the same time they moved to the other side of Stoke and 30 minutes away from my route which made them convenient. In other words I think they are like a lot of businesses - as long as the kit works you will be fine - if not they already have your money and don't really care. I am sure Alex will advise you on the PCs specs (all of mine are over 6 years old now but I know how to treat them) though I would look at an SSD for the operating system - a smallish one will do leaving the 2TB drive for data.

Make sure that the MB can take a full size graphics card. Mine can't, only a small cheap one. Alex

Adrian, Valid input that reflects what I've read up on OC over the net.
Alex, Good thought and on the money!
So far it's looking like Zoostorm or Dell. At less money the ZS has i5 4440 chip but a couple of missing facilities, e.g. wireless, whereas the Dell has all the gubbins but only i5 3340. Out of those I reckon the ZS wins but... ...Still searching....

Thanks Chris. Yes, still looking around after waiting an hour or so too long and missing the Zoostorm package. That's certainly another contender from a source I hadn't looked at.
Cheers!

As an aside to my search we picked up a decent 2nd hand PC today for Mrs CJ. Not modern but higher spec'd than anything else at CJ towers. It also came with Win7 (half the reason for buying) which I must admit I rather enjoyed getting to know while setting up the machine the way Mrs likes it. I had always assumed there'd be XP withdrawal symptoms but no, not at all

I had always assumed there'd be XP withdrawal symptoms but no, not at all Chris I also appreciated the change to W7 over XP after I sorted out the email problem. If they ever get W8 right, and they are bowing to demands from desktop users, then it will be even better again. P.S. No more manual defragmenting needed with either 7 or 8 ! Kind Regards Alex
