One of my favorite ponds in Awendaw SC near Bulls Island, with the new Panasonic GM1 and 12-32 kit lens. f9.0, 1/400, ISO 200.

That's a highly detailed photo ! Thanks - the original size was 4592 pixels wide, which I cropped slightly to about 4500 wide, then eventually I resized it to 3200 pixels wide. There may be a few instances where the full quality holds up at full size (images with smooth surfaces etc.), but when you get foliage like this image contains, it strains the ability of the camera (in JPEG mode at least). As a result I get about 8 good MP out of the original 16. I'm almost tempted to try RAW to see whether it can make better use of the pixels so not as much detail gets lost. The good news is, most of the 16 MP or so pocket cameras today that have the tiny sensors are doing well if they can pull even 4 MP of quality data from their 16 MP originals.
