Hi Chris About a week ago we finally managed to get Optus to replace a faulty modem. Their new standard issue also has WiFi so we were able to get rid of the existing Wireless Router. Last night while I was trying to get familiar with things , I noticed that on the network there was for a little while, an entry that said Phone (1) with the name Anthony Abraham. It appeared later on a couple of occasions too. This morning another arsehole was there too and we had to turn the modem off, which meant no phone either. Michael got his MAC address though. There have been quite a few reports about poor range with this modem, so it is very likely they are near by neighbours. There is a group of young Lebanese living next door. My son will try later this morning to make the set up harder to break in to. We never had problems with the previous WiFi router. Alex

Hi Alex, On the system we have at the rest.(nothing special, just standard issue) when looking to see who is using the wifi, we have the option to block any particular user, which is useful when non-customers try it on! Maybe you have a similar setting. It's a short term fix but at least you have the pleasure of virtually sticking your fingers in their eyes

Hi Chris We will have a good read through the .pdf for this modem. It's not a nice feeling knowing they MAY also be able to access private details. Bloody Windows 8.1 has also added my email address to my Network presence, which means they can also see that.
Kind Regards Alex

Hi Alex, Did you get anywhere with blocking wifi access to unknowns? I rechecked mine and the feature works well, dumps them out immediately plus you can re-allow if you so wish. I was playing silly buggers with the kids yesterday, my goodness the service is glitchy today

Kind Regards Alex erm........... the internet / operating systems went "big brother" a few years ago mate..... why do you think I've gone off it BIG time? everybody and their fekkin' dog is providing FREE personal information to big brother via "facebook".... we now have the latest iphone that "recognises" your fingerprint.... are people STUPID?!!! No longer necessary to commit a crime, just buy an iphone and add your fingerprints to the database, sign up to facebook and tell "them" what you're doing.......

Windows "9" will come with a "lick" screen....... tongue it and give them a free sample of your DNA...... I'm sorry to say it but, the internet has gone to the dogs and STUPID people are handing out all their information to Big Brother without even knowing they're doing it.... it's going in the wrong direction.... a new way to control the masses.

Hi MIke Yes, I knew that, but the later Operating Systems , overall, work and sound better with fewer problems. You wont see me signing up to Farcebook or the others, or buying an iPhone. I am quite happy with my old mobile that I normally only turn on when in the car. It is normally only used for emergencies, and essential family communications. Many people have become slaves to their fancy mobiles. Why should we be on call 24/7 for every Tom, Dick and Mary ? As far as I am concerned the same applies to the Zombies who walk around everywhere with earpieces inserted in the wrong place. And they wonder why there are so many pedestrian deaths and injuries. Welcome to the "grunt generation" that can't even hold a decent conversation. A contact in another forum who is a teacher , told me that he invited his students to a poolside barbeque. It wasn't long before all the girls were huddled together in a group , TEXTING !!! Alex

I was playing silly buggers with the kids yesterday, my goodness the service is glitchy today Hi Chris The problem was due to a 4 digit remote option that they don't tell you about. You need to DL and read the manufacturers .pdf. Resetting to factory specs, and using the extraordinarily long individual supplied P.W. fixed the problem. My son has now made the network "invisible" to outsiders too. Regards Alex
