Thanks for posting your nice cables. If you had to choose an overall best on balance from amongst all those you've made. Which one and why?
Cheers

Well, the best overall cables i tried were prob a bit dangerous to be honest, they were 4 poly or laquered coated wires woven together then seperated into 2 for each pos/neg, ie they were all touching with only a nats breath of insulation between the, so falure of the coating was possible over time, so i got shut. Shame as i'm sure they really did make things sound that shade more open, airy, etc etc, better highs and lows......but not at the cost of possible equipment damage later on.
But to be honest it would be a toss up between NVA sound cords or Black rhodium rythum (£12.00 a meter off the reel), BUT i'm just about to try some supposed cryogenic cable......will post up soon..........to be honest a lotof cable sounds very similar and when you find some that seems to make a cetain/or certain recorings sound better, it seems to high light something bad in other recordings........so i think if you have varied taste in music, it's best just to get a good all rounder that makes ALL your music listenable to not just trying to fix a few songs you have, or expect 1 cable to make all your recordings sound equal in quality.
I recently trieda couple of ebay and resold them on......the reviews were all 100% wow this is the best cable and better than my £200 cables etc, but they were no better than cheap and i mean cheap coax but in a fancy jacket, good job the guy doesn't charge much for them.
There is a lot of psycholgy involved and self trickery by activly listening in on sounds, when normally you would just listen to the whole of the music, but i also don't believe all cable sound the same either, that's nonsense, but sadly most do, but only because most on sale are the same type of cable in different colours and jackets.
Silver seems to sound diff to copper........thicker wire (notjackets) sounds diff to thin wires but not always.........differences are usually small, but, small differences can be all it takes to put the cherry on the cake sometimes.

I use Belden 1694A everywhere in my system on single ended interconnects and Mogami Neglex 2534 on my XLR balanced connections.
The XLR's are the gold Neutrik, and the RCA's are WBT Chinese imitations i found to be IDENTICAL with the originals. ( i get then from my local electronic store they are not cheap but cheaper than WBT, i have not found them on e-bay, but maybe i didn't try hard enough).
Solder is WBT silver solder.
The RCA plugs are the "screw" type where the cable gets screwed in position (both the signal and the earth)... i tighten the screws with the greatest force i can manage without damaging the small screws and then i secure with solder.
I find this type of connection to have an edge on soldered alone connections. (maybe it is psychological...)
I have a hiend system that reveals even small changes to it, and i find these interconnects to give the best balance between detail, warmth, and bass extension.
I detest systems that sound sharp and edgy...
I have only one VanDenHul the first hybrid left and i use it occasionally with my headphone rigs. I find the differences are not worth to justify the HUGE cost to rig my whole system with VDH's...
Other cables i have used are Audioquest and Kimber... the same applies to these as above.
Interesting also is a cable given to me by a friend that is made from CAT7 network cable. I am not sure the connection geometry, but this cable sounds fabulous... just thought i had ti mention it also.

I first played around in about 95 making my own up from off the reel at the time, i bought a few what hi fi recomended/best buys but was always very dissapointed. I'll let you know what this cryogenic stuff sounds like, i've had cryo before (bought 2nd hand) and it did seem to have more air and extention and kinder detailed highs, but after extentive back and forth testing, i think all those things were only aparent on a few recordings .......i still think that we have to ' be in the mood ' for music and forcing yourself to listen (while testing) can influence the results.

After 20 odd years my soldering iron packed up ( don't make em like that any more), pop !....bought a cheapie, that lasted 2 days, gosh there's some real rubbish out there, got refund and getting a good brand sent asap...........i was just in the mood for soldering, to me it's like smoking a cigar or a pipe ! i find it relaxing.......strange ?

Finally got round to doing this cable £10.00 a metre (it's double run) so a metre will do a metre pair.....i'm very pleased and suprized ! it says'' ref cryo hybryd ''on it but the outer jacket is a bit inconsistant in terms of the inner cable is not dead centre all the time through the run ( perhaps 2nd's quality and that's why £10) but it sounds as good in most areas than the crogenic bullit plug jobby that i thought was the best i've heard so far, so a bargain price. The inner and out insulation doesn't like a lot of heat though and melts easy .

On futher listening, the bass is much bigger than my other cables...........bags of detail and space like the others, but quite a big bass to it !
My next cable is taking apart one of my fave (the varnished touching copper !! ) and re-making it in a safe teflon outer litz x 4 (never weaved a litz before).....any tips or diagrams welcome
