Hi guys, i have been lurking here for a while and was wondering if anyone could give me an expert opinion. I have an old pair of senn hd580 headphones that can be a little sibilant from time to time and was contemplating replacing the neodymium capsules. Does anyone know if could do a direct replacement with the hd650 capsules. Has anyone tried this and do they think its a worthwhile upgrade. Is it possible without any modding. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Regards, Lee

Hello Lee, Although I've not done it myself the 650 and 600 capsules should fit directly into the 580 frame without any modding as they share the same dimensions just with different materials. You could also fit the 650 grills, headband pad and lead to make yourself a nice Frankenheiser

Have you checked that the padding is not too compressed? If it is the sound will be affected, also check the settings in your player to see if you can reduce the high frequencies with an equalizer.
