Evening all,
I have a Horizon kit on order, actually it's currently being held for ransom, err I mean customs charges by Royal Mail.
Anyone else built one yet, any mods recommended to be built in from scratch, prefered tubes etc.
I will be using it with my HD650's, fed from a Beresford Bushmaster DAC.
Cheers Richard

Hi Richard, My first suggestion would be that you should contact the kit designer (sorry, I'm hopeless at remembering names ) for his advice. My experience of him is that he could not be more helpful. Dave.

Hi Richard,
Frans is the designer and I know he would be happy to answer any questions about the Horizon. He can be reached at
solderdude4u@gmail.com
I have the Project Sunrise II (cousin to the Horizon) and have found the Russian EB tube from Mike and the Chinese equivalent work well for me. You might want to PM Mike (PinkFloyd) about some suggestions.
Cheers, Ron

Ron, Not arguing here but I always thought the design was a joint venture between Frans and the guy in USA (Arizona?) whose name I cannot remember. He used to hang around here a lot but seems to have found better things to do lately. I'm sure Frans will help as he is equally helpful but I thought the best source might be in the States as he sells the amp kits and I am unsure just how much Frans still has to do with the project now, that's all . Dave.

Thanks guys, Jeremy (Garage1217) is the other designer involved.
I'm planning to change a few caps, bypass them etc and also was going to contact Mike regarding replacement tubes. Need to listen to the stock valve first I think.
I made a few changes to my Panda, so will probably go the same route on this one.
Cheers Richard

Indeed, Jeremy it was - thanks for that, I would never have guessed it - but he's a very helpful guy so I can only repeat that you contact him first if you bought the kit from him. Sorry Jeremy old age takes a terrible toll on short term memory. Dave.

Dave. No argument from me Dave. I am a man of peace. You are correct, Jeremy is the other designer and the builder of my SR II. He is a great guy and made some modifications for me so I could listen at lower volumes with my old ears. My apologies to him for forgetting him. I mention Frans mostly because Jeremy is a very busy man and travels frequently and Frans is still involved with the design. He actually was the one that suggested I ask Jeremy to make the mods. Both are good resources. Hey between the two of us, we remembered the whole thing! Cheers, Ron PS- Richard, I hope you enjoy the Horizon as much as I enjoy my SR II.

Cheers Richard Hi Richard, I think you have a great idea in listening to the stock valve first. I have only had the amp a few weeks and I am still trying to decide which tube I prefer. You may like the stock valve, it is a very good one IMO. Cheers, Ron
