OK folks, My son is a total bass freak, he liked his Porta Pros but has killed them and is now looking for something in the vein sound wise but hopefully better and more immune to abuse! Some kind of small circumaural is top of the list (he has small ears and head). I showed him things like the Beyer 770 but he doesn't want to be a cyberman! We can't get a listen to anything half decent around here so are looking for a tried and tested short list from fellow bass heads! TIA

Senn px360?
Not as good as the HD25 II though.
Dare I say it - Fanny Wangs? (Dr Dre copies)
or the wonderful
Noontech Zoro
Most to least bass:
Fanny Wang PX360 Zoro HD25
But all have healthy bass.
Best sound - HD25. Kids will tend to like the Fanny Wang sound. Cheaper and better alternative are the Zoro.
Not forgetting the Portapro which is healthy in the bass regions.
Or Senn HD202 (although the lead is too long)

Are you still keen on them, Miguel? I might try a pair myself.

Yes I still like them specially since they are close and afford a level of isolation when SWMBO watches her soaps.

Sorry about the late reply Chris but how about AKG K450. The lead's a bit flimsy but the cans are built quite well. Spare leads can be got for about 5 or 6 quid too. Cracking sound too but a bit bass heavy for me but the best bass heavy small can I've ever heard. Think nice sounding highs and mids with a bit too much bass for a truly neutral sound. They have excellent isolation properties too. You can crank them up without waking the neighbourhood. EDIT: On Amazon at 41 quid at the moment. Bargain for a can of this quality. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001F6M5DI/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550932429&ref=asc_df_B001F6M5DI

Funny thing about the Creative Aurvana is how varied the reviews are on Amazon. From heavy bass to no bass!! You always find this and the opposite of that on amazon reviews the Audirvana are denon d1001 rebadged, and we know that denon 'phones do have bass. I was going to suggest the D2000 if budget permits, otherwise he can be really happy with the Audirvana, I use them daily at work.

Actually there is an slight improvement in Creative Live over the original Denons, IMO of course.

I've just received a pair of Creative Aurvana headphones and you are right Miguel. They are terrific. They remind me most definitely of the Denon 1001 but I think are actually better. Not as bloated as the Denons in the bass and a nice clean top end too.
The only thing I think that they could do without is the glossy cup surface. I'm scared to touch them in case I leave evidence!!
