I reckon Mr Gates is flogging off Win8 versions at lower prices than previous incarnations of Windows and I wondered if the rumours I hear about it being better for computer audio applications, or it being faster and less resource hogging,or being more stable, have any truth in them. Any of you professional IT and audio geeks got any opinions? Must admit I'm tempted, always like the new, but first uptakers are often the guinea pigs - there again, Windows have been in production for so long, surely all the major glich possibilities have been identified? Dave.

Anything new from Microsoft is rubbish/beta software.
Win 2000 need a few service packs before it became decent. Same for XP. Vista was rubbish and it became usable in the form of Win7.
Since Win 8 is something new from them, draw your own conclusion, or be a beta tester. And why do they always need to reinvent the user interface?
Just my, very biased, 2cts.
Cheers, Marc

Marc That even goes back to dos.. Dos 5 was good, Dos 6 was rubbish and wasn't ok till Dos 6.2. XP didn't have usb support till SP1, and wasn't really stable till SP2. Definitions for M$ are NT = Not There, DotNet= NotYet Win7 is Vista with a lot of processes not started on boo and changed to auto(when needed)a changed because it upset the expert fanboys Win8, wait for the service packs Just an uneducated view

TBH, the Apple OS or even the Linux OS is more stable than Win. Win always crash and I had blue screen my Win 7 (SP1) many times (>10). So why not try another OS if you have not for AV? Download the Win 8 beta to try, ok. You want something more stable wait to at least SP2 as always. I will wait until SP2 and price will have drop further.

Linux has always been more stable, as for the Fruit company, well BSD was quite good, plus Apple locks the system down so much. Anyone who jailbreaks their apple won't turn to apple for support. So it's win win for wapple ;D
