I didn't find any reference to Async or drivers on his site And there's no response to the question in the thread. I was trying to compare the two implementations Ps I'm no 67 on the list You missed the 1st GB by only 7!! Alan the answer I posted is not in the thread, it is from a an e-mail from Domenico, the designer of the Amanero module (he is Italian). His complete answer was: -" il modulo funziona in modo isocrono asincrono. That one should be very interesting for those who didn't make it to Will's PK DAC GB or became interested later. It can be used with a USB->I2S source like the Amanero discussed in this thread as long as the SPDIF is either removed/not installed or, if present, power is removed when using I2S to avoid signal conflicts.

If you,re going to use 32/384, you,ve already pre-processed your audio file, so why not just continue with out of the pc.

My main interest in Domenico's board is native DSD which isn't available on the Widget yet. There are some DXD (24/352.8) DLs available but it is more of a curiosity than anyhting else, besides, the files tend to be huge. Going higher than 24/192 is a little pointless IMO though I'm sure others won't agree. From what I've read the Amanero board seems to be more reliable than the Widget and its drivers are more solid and stable. Did you miss Will's ES9023 PocketKnife DAC thread?: rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=m&action=display&thread=6346&page=1

My Amenero board arrived this morning much quicker than I expected, given the reputation of the Italian Postal Service, so, many thanks to Domenico. Looks very good to me but much smaller than I expected . The question now is, what to do with it. Not being electronically or solder competent I reckon I'll just sit back a while and watch you guys, learning from your mistakes . Dave.

Hi Dave, just send it to me I'll give it loads of TLC ;D I'm last on the list so we can both watch from the sidelines for a bit.

I was surprised as well this morning when mine turned up.
As Dave says, very small (think half a PK dac), but very nicely built.
I've plugged it in and it is recognised in Foobar, which is as far as I've got.

I wonder if the Jean-Paul behind this pcb is the one who joined here, and then asked me for a copy of my PK Dac schematic?

I've plugged it in and it is recognised in Foobar, which is as far as I've got. Minor problem? Plugged mine in and Win7 tried and failed to load a driver for it ( so recognised it immediately ) but foobar seemed to be totally unaware of it - should this happen automatically or do you need to initiate foobar finding it? TIA, Dave

Have you DL'ed the drivers Dave? amanero.com/drivers.htmIt is a UAC2 device and under Windows it needs drivers to work.

Ah Javier, you know me too well ;D . It's always easier when you know what you're doing, isn't it? FWIW, even after DL'ing the right driver, Win7 failed to find it automatically so I had to go into Dev. Mgr. and use the 'Install Driver' facility. All done OK now and it appears in the list of Output Options - all I need now is something to go between the 'open' end of it and my amps - I await further developments . Thanks Javier , Dave.

There is a setup.exe file inside the zip, well... actually thre are two, one for 32 bit Windows (Setup32.exe) and another for 64bit ones (Setup64.exe). Running it would have been easier and quicker.

Oh ye of little faith!!! That was the first thing I tried but the Installation Wizard immediately came up with a message that the hardware relating to that driver either 'Could not be found' or 'Was not present', so ner!!! . Dave Check in the bios that usb2 is enabled Unplug the device, load driver then plug it in Pagan, Thanks for your iterest. BIOS is one of the many things I try hard not to get involved with , being a numptie, but I can tell you that my MoBo is a relatively new one with USB 3.0 which works fine with a USB 3.0 exterior HDD so I suspect that may not be the problem. If I'm wrong, feel free to tell me . BTW, everything is now fine and recognised so I don't have a problem with the Amanero board.

Javier, am I going to have trouble with you? When I refer to a problem for me I mean one that others don't have. So not being able to get music out of it still puts me well in front of you 'cos I have at least got mine while you are still awaiting yours . I will be available to advise on getting the driver installed if needed ;D ;D . Dave.

I may not have the board yet with me but I do have a DAC ready to make it sing! I've just checked the tracking # against Correos' web (Spanish Mail) and my Amanero should be here any time now. Any of the lucky ones who have received their boards has already tried it? if so, what are the 1st impressions.

( green jealous smily thingy if there was one ) Nope, got the same as you but it usually takes 5 days since it leaves origin and delivery. So far it has been almost the same for things sent from the UK, the Neverlands or any other EU country. I guess they'll be with us before Friday. Do you have you PK ready?
