have not read this whole thread so forgive me if this has already been covered. i understand there are only limited ways to rip sacd's to pc. my sacd player does not output dsd via its digi out (as most dont). so how (now or in the future) could i benefit from a dsd capable dac?

Has anybody taken the Amanero project further ? What were the results of the PSU upgrades, where there was talk of bypassing the existing low noise voltage regulators ? Regards Alex

Regards Alex Hi Alex I’m still living quite happily with my on board LDO's ripped out and Salas shunts powering the Chip and XO. The result of the above mods where night and day better clarity wise IMHO. Take care

Aye, mine is still running a JLH 5v for most of the board and another JLH 5v/Cricket 3.3v for the XOs. Same reaction to the mods as Shaun though I'd lay a sure bet that ours sound different to each other.

Hi Will
I think that it does do DSD as Javier had his playing those files.
I think that the latest drivers and flash update are needed though which also provides ASIO which is quite nice.
Check out the massive DIYA thread for more details.
Take care

Hi Shaun,
Looking back, my post wasn't that clear. I had linked to a new USB to i2s device which is out, and at a good price. There's also a thread for it over at diyAudio 'New Xmos usn 384khZ'. It's this device that doesn't do dsd.

Hi Will i spotted that thread over on DIYA but it seems to be getting the usual harsh treatment so i've only glanced at it since. as you say it uses the latest Xmos chip and seems a good price. mmmmm may need a test drive take care
