Very nice, Dale. Never heard her music before but this is unusual.
You know, many people go on about Bjork and her (sometimes eccentric) music. I like her stuff and do listen to it quite a bit, but after a while, you start to notice limitations and repeated techniques that start to become her 'sound'.
This album offers something new to the 'eccentricities' of modern songs rather than the pap that comes out (and I was part of) in the pop world. Something a bit more thoughtful in this music.

Yes, I too like Bjork, but with a filter. What's that you say? Filter? I was thinking maybe someday I could get a CD of Bjork performing songs that were used in movie soundtracks. I think you can see where I'm going with that. It might be unrealistic though.

Actually, quite a lot of this album kind of reminds me of 'Rasputina.' Strong use of the 'cello with Rasputin but their songs are in a similar vein.

Sorry, not my type. Er, I mean the music. Eccentric in a new front but not something that I can connect to for long. Somewhat eccentric pop and Bjork can't even get pass me. Duffy somewhat still can.

Emilie seems to have a big variety of styles, ranging from poetry and spoken word, to pop-goth to amost industrial. Bjork doesn't seem to me to have style so much as voice - if I could learn to really like that voice then I could get into whatever her meaning is.

I see what you're saying here and I guess it was kind of what I was hinting at earlier in that you can hear similarities in the techniques that Bjork uses.
However, the weird thing is that each album she has produced seems to be quite different. I also find that I need time to kind of tune in to her work. I found Volta a bit difficult at first and it kind of became more familiar and then more appealing to me. There are still parts of Volta where I feel she made musical bloomers but others would disagree.
The guy who sings with her on Volta in a duet just doesn't do it for me. The two of them together just sound odd to me.
This album by Emilie is interesting, although it's such a huge listen, I have to listen to a few numbers at a time. It's very intense. She does vary a lot of what she is doing on the deluxe version and it's a massive collection of songs.

If I could make a suggestion about male-female duets, I think 95 percent or more of them are made to appeal to the majority who like the Grammys or American Idol and stuff like that. I'm trying to think right now about some that work well. Let's see, Belle and Sebastian. No. Jefferson Starship. Yeah, some of it. Johnny and June Carter Cash. No. Sinatra, Bennett - no. The Gibb's - nyet. The Jacksons - no.
