Mike, I'd be interested in having a listen and would be happy to ship it on down to Ian after a couple of weeks. If not, please add me to the list as convenient. Dave. Hi Dave, Excellent! Please PM me your details and I'll ship it over to you tomorrow All the best, Mike.

OK folks, it goes to Dave next, then Ian and then off to Gommer and then Chris.... if anymore UK based guys come in before it ships to Europe then they will get sent it first as it's faster to post within the UK but, as it stands, it's Dave then Ian then Gommer then Chris......
Gommer, I'll update you to "been here a while" as soon as I get off the phone.
All the best,
Mike.

Ok. I know this might not been the right place in the forum. But as you all have DAC's on the mind. What can thee recommend to receive the optical info out of an airport express?

Mike you can put my name down for a listen if that's ok. I don't usually listen to music through my computer, but this amp has wet my appetite and I do have some 24/192 HD audio files that I would love to hear through this amp. Cheers Chris

I'll get to Dave as soon as I'm properly back. I guess you haven't compared it to the old Aune amp? I find that extremely good from the computer as well. Hope all's well up there in Scottyland. Ian

Hi Dave, I will send it over to you next Tuesday, I want to keep it this weekend to compare to the older Aune DAC that Ian Mentioned, one thing's for sure.... I want one of these That valve is just sitting there saying "take me out try another one" This is a "tube rollers" dream.... instant access to the valve, whip it out and roll another one in.... potential of more sonic flavours than Mr. whippy

Martin, I love your signature - if it ain't broke don't fix it, but it doesn't hurt to take a little look, and if it breaks in the process, just fix it - that is soo me Jeff

Yeh, Dave, no need to put the plastic valve guards on, just fit the valve in position and it's ready to plug and play.
Mike.

Cheers, Dave. It'll improve your computer files a lot, Dave if it's as good as the Aune amp/dac. In fact, it may be even better if it's a dedicated dac. I'm still able to track RG. I'm in the middle of nowhere but funnily enough, a good phone signal.

Hi Mike,
I seem to remember reading that you thought the previous AUNE DAC was a very good match with the DT-770's. Was wondering if you found the same experience with the AUNE 24 bit or if there is a new winner with this tubed beauty.
Thanks, Ron

All the best, Mike. Hi Mike, Thanks for putting me in the loop to hear this amp. Thanks also to Candy for making this possible. I have never been in this position before where I can hear some class equipment in the comfort of my own home with no pressure whatsoever. Are there any rules I need to know apart from the obvious that I need to take exceptional care of it (like time limits?) I have never wrote a review before but I will certainly do one for this amp. What happens next? do I just wait to hear from Ian when he has finished auditioning it and who is it going to after me? Chris

Yeah, when doing a review, please post your reference equipments for a lock in to what you are writing. Otherwise, not head or tail could be made out of your review. Put in a score board will be best as quantifying the subjectives to me is the best form of review. Eg: High 7/10 Mid 8/10 Soundstage 6/10 OVERALL 6.5/10 British marking standard, please. American always high score! Anyway, this is a British forum.

Hi Chris, Yes, that's the way it goes..... Ian will pass it on to you once he's got down and dirty with it.... just let us know what you think of it in a "British" way (as Chong suggests ) please don't turn into an American when you're commenting on it.... ie: "this kicks ass" is not acceptable, you would be better saying "This kicks royal arse".... get the idea?

Hi Mike, and other interested parties , Just to let you know that the Aune amp arrived in pristine nick at 3.30pm this afternoon, so 'Ta' for that. I am about to read the User Manual thoroughly and I will give it a listen tonight. Initial impressions are that it is very well packed and built like a battleship but with better build quality - vey impressive . Even the User Manual is printed in easily readable sized font size on decent glossy paper. Only criticism at this point is that the valve itself is barely mentioned as far as I can see and I thought about tube rolling - not knowing much about tubes can I ask what tubes might be used to try or should I leave well alone? The tubes I have are 6922 equivalents - any use here? Cheers, Dave.

Hi Chris, Yep, that helps a lot (on a couple of fronts actually ). The valve included with the Aune amp is an Electro Harmonix 6922EH so plenty of room for upgrading. Cheers, Dave.

The EH 6922 is actually "current production" of the Russian 6N23P-EB. They're actually not too bad Dave but I still prefer the NOS 6N23P-EB, they really knew how to build them back then
