I went to see a guy who teaches helis today.
He watched me with the 120 sr and the MSRx...........
Then said, 'You're ready'. He got a Blade 450 out and 'buddied' my transmitter and allowed me to fly it!!!!!!!
He helped me lift and land a few times and then left me to take it up.
It bloody went as well. Got it up in the air, turned and went forward turned and got it back.
It's ENORMOUS. I had a fantastic afternoon with this guy who flies real helicopters too and my confidence went right into the sky.
It was absolutely BRILLIANT. This thing starts up and blows the dust and crap away from the floor and it lifts in such a 'bold' way, you kind of think it can't be you doing that.
I enjoyed it so much, I was bringing it down as slowly as possible just to enjoy the moment. (I've had to edit this post over and over 'cause the experience has hampered my spelling, I'm so high!!!!)
Exhilarating. Brilliant. Scary. I got all emotional for christ's sake.
Now I'm home, I don't know about flying one independently myself because if this crashed, there would be nothing left. The rotors spin really fast and boy do they move.
Having him 'buddy' my transmitter meant that if I made a mistake, he could get in and fly me out of it. He tells me that I was virtually independent and the MSRx must have done the job!!!
It is the most liberating, exhilarating thing to lift a big thing off the ground like that. The first time I got it up in the air, I had to put it down through sheer excitement.
They are a scream to fly and just, impressive.
I LOVED the experience in spite of it terrifying the nuts off of me. Never thought I could do it until today.
My helis all seem like little buzzies now. (and very comfortable as well)
