I can't see any mention of gyro anywhere. It might be one of the older non gyro models that aren't half as stable.

I gave them a call; (OMG, actually talking to people!) I was told by a rather unsure customer service dept. "If it doesn't state a feature in the description then it doesn't have it." Looks like amazon have the better deal then. Again don't send outside the UK. Anyone buying?

Chris, I started on the Bladez a year or two ago. They fly really nicely. The owner of the company tied up with Peter Jones (from a programme called Dragon's Den) and he is helping the company develop.
I was given 6 of them and gave them away once I got the Blades.
Loved them to death. Great flyers. No good outside because they are infa red and the battery can only be charged in the heli which is a bit of a pain.
I crashed one outside in the swimming pool at Guernsey in the summer and it became a submarine.
I wish now, that I had kept a couple to see if it were possible to fix say, Blade batteries onto them and so make them more useable with a change of rechargeable batteries. If I could have done that, I would have kept them.
The batteries start to fade after a while and you get less time on them but nice to learn on, although the controls are not mode 2 which is a pity.
Mode 2 is the way most British/European remotes work. What that means is which pot controls left/right, back/forward. The left/right is on the right stick on the Bladex whereas on serious helis, it's on the left which can cause problems if you upgrade. (As I think Ian found)
You'll probably outgrow it pretty quickly too. They tend to be slow and sedate.
Ian

Ian, I think I'm getting Blade s and Blade z mixed up. Does anyone have experience of the Syma range? They are more available over here.

Does anyone have experience of the Syma range? They are more available over here. I think the Symas are supposed to be pretty good Chris. At those price levels, I wouldn't be expecting too much in any case but I seem to remember a serious heli site saying that they were ok. The little coaxials are easy to fly indoors and a bit of fun. Same thing with battery and infa red though. No way to put in a fresh battery between flight and if the sun comes out and you're outside, it'll crash!! However, these little cheap ones will get you flying very quickly. Be prepared for an upgrade bug though. It's seriously addictive. Ian

Just to go to the other end of the scale price wise - have you see the Ardone Quadricopter? with built in guards for indoor flying. I'm not really interested in RC Helicopters but liked the look of this one. Expensive at about£250. Website below. ardrone.parrot.com/parrot-ar-drone/en

I've my eyes on the Syma S032G/B, it's a slightly bigger at 33cm long (mini rather than micro?) radio controlled, 3 channel, coaxial. I'm hoping a particular vendor here will be able to supply from future stock at the €40 + post they advertise now (out of stock). todomodel.es

Why won't anybody listen? 3 channel is crap.... 4 channel is the way to go.... you may "pay" more but it's money well spent.

mike, Did you learn on a 4channel? I would view my first/only purchase as one I'm prepared to trash. If you can recommend a 4ch, beginners model that is half reasonble in size and price, I'm all ears. I don't fancy these palm size things, I may as well fly some of Leos gnat poo caps ;D ianYes, that's it in a nutshell. I'd find a tiddler too boring so am prepared to risk "break up on re-entry". The models you linked to look the same but as usuall not available to Spain or from sellers in Spain. That Syma S032G has an old model to be avoided, only S032 printed on the box, and crappy copies. To 3ch or 4ch, banking is the question ps I forgot to mention, the Syma model above, as I said i was hoping to grab at €40 + post. There is a place locally flogging them for €100 That's way over the RRP, xmas rip-off merchants

What Mile is getting at with 3 and 4 channel is to do with the controls.
Basically, 3 channel controllers have the left/right turn on the right joystick which is not standard on more serious machines.
That means if you want to progress to better/faster/more nimble machines, then you have a problem relearning the controls. That causes crashes since you would automatically use the wrong control and start hitting walls. A really common thing with beginners is not be able to control the revs when using correct remotes because you use the same joystick, so when you say, turn left, you also cut or boost the revs accidentally so the heli shoots up or down as well as left. Then .......bang!!
Imagine doing that with a two foot Sky Taxi!!
Chris, the beginner ones are small because they take crashes much better. It's normally not a question of IF you crash but WHEN, big ones will come apart under their own weight.
One crash with the Sky Taxi will break something. It's imperative to get it down slowly whereas with little ones, it's not so critical.
If you want a big coaxial, maybe that one the Mad German shows on YouTube is a good one for you? It's pretty tough and when I looked it up on Amazon, it was around 40.
This looks a nice one but is single blade and a bit bigger and 4 channel:

Aaaaw, come on Chris. What is it? Especially if it's peanuts.
Chris, you'll love it!! It'll give you a flavour of flying without the added complexity or danger of the bigger ones. I'm always wary of the two bigger ones that I have. One crash and it's busted but with the little ones, they just seem to bounce!! It's far safer.
I'm looking for a good compromise actually - a 12 inch coaxial for indoors, but haven't seen a nice one yet!! The Sky Taxi is too large for flying in the house really. I can hover it and turn, but too nervous of moving around furniture. Mind you, I do love that heli!!!

Actually, that looks rather nice. For a 4 channel, it's cheap as well.
