Sam, my helicopter guru recommended this helicopter as the next step up from the E-Flite MCX2. It is single blade and therefore a lot faster and agile than the MCX2. He wasn't wrong, it's a beautiful little thing and a piece of cake to fly (and BOY can it fly!!).... there are two modes you can choose on the transmitter, primary mode or advanced mode.... advanced mode alters the throttle curve and is ideal for outdoor flying (or for more experienced pilots). It took me about 20 minutes and I can fly in BOTH modes without crashing... it is highly responsive and you can fly her straight towards a wall, whack the rudder to the left and apply left yaw and she will turn on a sixpence! I think I'm going to have great fun with this! The flight characteristics are smooth and silky and it's relatively easy to put it exactly where you want it to go. The build quality is SUPERB.... the battery slots into the cradle in a really nifty way and there is a little tag to pull it out... it kind of clunk clicks into position so zero in flight movement..... The Nine Eagles also has a patent: The packaging was SUPERB and the aluminium flight case top quality, it will come in really handy when transporting the copter and plenty of room for spare batteries etc. Look at the way they even protect the handle with foam: Foam removed: Even comes with 2 sets of keys to lock it! Sticker removed: Inside the box: A closer look: Paperwork removed: Contents laid bare: A page from the instruction manual: And, of course, the Nine Eagles Pro V2 itself! Give me a few days with it and I'll upload a vid of this bird in action.... simple to control, it will hover on it's own (once trimmed) but can also be as fast as a speeding bullet if you feel like letting rip! Sam was correct, this is a really EXCELLENT single blade helicopter and the quality control is just superb.... I am over the moon with it.

By the way, the transmitter is excellent, it has an LED display and you can visually see the trim positions, the battery level and a few other bits and bobs.... very nice positive feel to the sticks.

It looks superb, Mike. Really good value with the case to pack it all away as well. You'll be zipping around the house like a maniac with that. The single blades are a lot faster than the coaxials. Much more acrobatic.
Buzzflyer sell them at an amazing price for what you get.

hehe... I spoke too soon.... seems it's got a problem like your Honey Bee! It will fly SUPERBLY for about 2 minutes and will slowly go out of trim, then RAPIDLY go out of trim and eventually spin like a mad spinning top..... I gave her a dry run (holding with my hand) and, guess what? The tail rotor motor starts packing in after about 2 minutes.... friggin' great I know this is not typical of these as Sam had his up in the air for a good 7 minutes.... there is one report I have seen on the net about this spinning thing and it also suggests a faulty rotor motor. Oh well..... it will be flying back to Buzzflyer on Monday for a replacement.

Rotors seem to cause a lot of problems, Mike. Mine went back yesterday and the guy even had it picked up.
He looked at it today and I spoke to him and he says that it did have a rotor problem so was going back home!!
I had a fly with the 120 sr today in the house for just a few minutes and feeling the motor on the back end showed that they do build up quite a bit of heat.
I also tried the MSR but that doesn't get as warm.
The 9 Eagles looks great so hopefully, it'll get sorted quickly and you'll have another one. They are all quite touchy aren't they?

Mike, will the transmitter bind with the MCX2? Ian Will give it a try Ian! By the way.... e-mailed BuzzFlyer, told them about the Nine eagles V2 and that I was going to "review" it on the helicopter section they send to just send the helicopter back (minus the gubbins) and they will replace it... seem a good firm.

I like the look of their site actually. They have some nice stuff there. The Nine Eagles V2 looks good value and from the sound of it, it's a relatively easy fly.
Rotors seem to be a weak point in quite a few helis. Even when they're working, they can be a bit touchy as the battery winds down. You find the trimming starts to alter as it empties.
The MCX2 doesn't suffer from that to the extent that the MSR and 120 SR do. I had a look around on the internet and apparently, it is one of the foibles of tail rotors.
Heat is the other problem. I have no idea what you're supposed to do with the Honey Bee if the same happens with that rotor. (I have a feeling that it may well alter with charge depletion)
Still, it'll be interesting to see what you make of a single rotor. They fly so differently and are a lot faster and more acrobatic. The potential for crashes takes a steep rise!!
They have some rather nice Walkera helis there. I'm quite interested in the Walkera V120D01 because it has no flybar and they reckon it's pretty stable. The Blade equivalent is a handful so if that one is easier to fly, then it could be rather nice and you'd get a longer battery life with the weight of the flybar missing.
Trouble is, it comes without a transmitter so it's quite expensive really.

Yes, the Solo V2 looks like really good value. Reading those posts is quite funny. Some of them go on about the fast speed of the MSR. It is fast, but I can slow it down to MCX2 speed now. It's much more controllable than I first thought. However, it is also very fast if you push the throttle fast forward.
I suspect the weak spot on the MSR is the tail rotor. The wires are exposed and so would be easily damaged in a crash. I've become very fond of the MSR.
The rotor was also mentioned on the Solo. It's more the motor failing though, like yours did. With mine, the blade needs replacing more often, I think.
It's funny that some reckon the MSR is more controllable and others reckon the Solo is.
I'm waiting for your second one to see if that motor problem comes up again. Those rotors seem to be a weak point in all with those designs. The MSR rotor gets warm, but not hot.
The price of the Solo is way better though although I got mine BNF so that keeps the price down.
I only have one transmitter and all three helis run from it. I bought the three BNF after the first one so that keeps the cost down.
I'd like a decent transmitter like a Spektrum DX6i or even the 7 or 8. (In readiness for the future) You can programme combos in which become more important with the single blades.
I'm slowing everything down and aiming at absolute control over the heli. You also avoid crashes that way.
Interesting that you got the solo up and flew it first time. I couldn't easily do that with the MSR. It was a struggle at first, but now I feel that it's extremely stable. Weird isn't it?

Mike, Received a V2 today and had a fly with it. It's very different to the MSR and I can't fly it as smooth at the moment.
I'm not that keen on the transmitter. Mine stays off until you puch quite a way up and then suddenly spins the blades fast so it's a bit fast at the bottom end for me.
It has a strong tendency to shoot off left so you have to give a lot of right aileron to get it in the air straight, or zoom it up quick.
It hovers better than the MSR and stops dead, but it reacts very strongly to forward/left/right so you have to be extremely delicate with the controls.
I don't like the skids at all. Flimsy and I broke mine with a couple of hours on a strong put down!! Ordered another one, but they are particularly poor quality imo.
So ...
V2 Very stable hover. Poor skids. Battery is a doddle. (ordered some more with the skids) Controls are too sensitive even on low/indoor setting.
MSR Less stable hover but is actually conrtrollable when you learn the pendulum. Stronger skids. Battery connection is lovely. You connect externally and then put it onto the heli once the gyro has sorted itself out. Controls are less sensitive and there is a different response as you go up.
I'm wondering about getting a DX6i for a better control actually.
BTW - Eflite and V2 controllers are not compatible. I tried it!!

Ian Will be sending mine back tomorrow, I have been SO busy I didn't even have a spare 10 minutes to box it up until now.... I agree about the skids, they are pretty flimsy and I also noticed if you "bump" them they come apart from the main frame so maybe a little bit of sealant applied before you slot the new ones in... will prevent this from happening AND you will be able to remove them in future. I didn't notice the V2 veering to the right Ian... I took off pretty smartish and hovered at about 4 foot and, YES, very stable hover.... unfortunately mine has a fault so I only got a minute of fine hovering before it started to spin like a top. Battery arrangement superb, I agree there too... a nice reassuring "click" when she slots in... no chance of that falling out of the cradle mid-flight. The canopy is pretty brittle too so watch that... look at the seams on the bottom (the mating edges) pretty poorly stuck together so maybe some tape (inside the canopy) or a drizzle of glue between the seams to reinforce them. The engine and mechanics are on par with MCX2 and I actually like the transmitter... nice to physically "see" the trim on the LCD screen and you can change to mode 1 by simply reversing the antenna (very good feature).... like everything, once you get used to the transmitter it will become second nature BUT it is pretty strange going from one transmitter onto a totally different one.... you get disorientated! Ideally, one transmitter for all of them would be the best but wouldn't that be like having the same clutch, brakes, steering wheel and throttle fitted to ALL cars? Part of the fun (IMO) is the different control characteristics of the transmitters. Did you go for the glow in the dark yellow or the red one? Plenty of mod kits available for the pro 2 "too" I thought mine had another problem hovering at an "angle" but Sam explained that too.... the real ones do that too.... angled skids so it can land on uneven ground... all interesting stuff. Will get the entire "Tilgner" works out to you tomorrow.... have printed out all the blurb too... you can fly and listen to birds in the forest in binaural... may be quite a strange experience with closed cans Mike.

The hover is the best of anything except the MCX2, Mike. It stays rock solid. However, you don't get that solid hover with the bigger ones ... they slid all over the place. Even the 120 SR is a bit slidy. The V2 just sits there. Great for hover, I find the transmitter a lot sharper in response in comparison to the Eflite. If you touch forward, it shoots off, so it has to be watched. I imagine on full power outside, it'll hold its own whereas the MSR flits about like a butterfly. When I get the new skids, I'll try it. Mine's red. Not the yellow glowy one!! However, I've ordered parts to turn the red one into a yellow one with pretty white plades as spares. So it'll end up yellow, or red..... So ....... I'm fickle. The BNG version is cheap so at least if you bash it, it's a real cheapo to replace!! I don't like the skids though. Far too thin and they snapped really easily. Just a heavy landing. It's also an unplug thing from the receiver as well because of the battery arrangement. Maybe I should have bought two..... I can see that happening again. Battery life at the moment is shorter than the MSR. To me, the MSR to 120 SR is a logical step up. Similarish in the way they fly but the 120 does bring a big challenge. The V2 is more 'buzzy' feeling and you need to whip it off the ground really quickly to keep it stable. The MSR can go much slower as it takes off. I'll work on the V2 though. It looks interesting for outdoor flying and is very cheap. Ian

Guess what ..... rear rotor failed!!! Gone back and a new replacement being sent. (A yellow one this time) Maybe the colour will stop it happening!!
I wonder if there is a common fault there. It's also a weak point in the Blades. They are prone to break on crashes since the connections are external and very fine wire.
No breaks on the V2 - it just stopped. I was flying it with the skids taped together and it suddenly went into a spin like the Honey Bee did.
Shop were fine - just sending a replacement back.

hmmmm.... I asked the guy at BuzzFlyer if they had many problems and he said "just a few tail rotors" so could be the weak point of these.... you'll either get a good one or one that packs in... I feel a heatsink mod coming on? Mine was great then, all of a sudden, lost power... made it's way down to the ground and started spinning like a banshee.... Sam was saying he has gone through a lot of replacement batteries (cause he's flied it so much!) but no motor failures.. must be pot luck Ian. Another thing.... always allow at least 5 minutes BETWEEN flights... don't land, swap batteries and take off again... let the motors cool down.... if you fly / land / new battery / fly / land / new battery / fly / land / new battery something's gonna blow... those little motors are running flat out and 5 minutes break between flights is a good idea

Actually, I was looking at some stuff on You Tube yesterday and the heat thing came up on a couple of bids with all helis.
Both on tail rotor and on the main board. So that's probably a very good idea. I've been flying them for 30 minutes at a time so plenty of time to cook.
I do like Buzzflyer. Very helpful people. They say that they have sold hundreds of V2's. Very popular.

That is insane.... I assume you are taking a break between flights?

Most manuals say something like this:
"Motors, motor regulators and flight batterys can heat during operation. For this reason, take a break of 5 to 10 minutes before recharging the flight battery / flights.

Well, I guess a few minutes between each flight. I like cooking. I do feel the temperature with the top of my lip. (Under my nose) So if there is any heat, I feel it!! They haven't got that hot in all honesty. The hottest part is always the tail rotor in all of them, but not really hot, just warm. OK, pit stops will be timed...... Ian

It's fast as well!! I noticed that the controller is very sharp on it and it does seem to go forwards at a fast rate with just a touch on the control!!
It has a really good hover for a Single Blade. Better than the MSR in that respect. You do have to be quite delicate with the joysticks though.

Yes! There's not much play in them is there? It's either full on or full off, not a nice gradual sweep.... very much like going from a car with no power steering to one with power steering... at first it seems a bit toooooo precise / a bit twitchy... I have been up (out of bed) for a few hours now and had a go of it.... they fitted a new tail motor (Buzz Flyer) and it appears to be flying better but I tend to agree that it would probably be better outdoors (at least until you get used to it) as a "room" has too many things like walls, furniture, "me", etc. for it to smack into.... I was hovering it, told it to "come to Papa" and it flew right into my head! Of course, I was attempting to "control" it and intended for it to come toward me at a leisurely pace.... gave it a bit too much stick and it came at me like a hornet out of a hive.... Seems these have to be pretty much "constantly" corrected during each flight for trim.... my one wants to go forward all the time and I have to set the pitch trim fully down..... I haven't had a good chance to get to grips with it yet (due to being in bed ill since it arrived back) but hope to have another play with it tomorrow. I must admit though, compared to the MCX2, the Nine Eagles Pro V2 seems cheap and plasticky in comparison... the canopy is pretty flimsy, the skids are junk and the overall "feel" is not as high quality as the MCX2. So far, I'm not really too keen on it BUT that is due to the fact that I haven't got to grips with it and that failed tail motor was a bad start.... it arrived back from Buzz Flyer with the same cracked canopy (the canopy cracked when it zoomed into a wall after the tail rotor motor clapped out) and that has pissed me off a bit, if truth be told.... I'm sure they could (should!) have sent it back with a new canopy.... nope, that has kind of put me off a bit.... To some, £79 may seem "cheap" for a bit of flying plastic.... I think it's very expensive when you could get the same (at source) for a LOT less money.... I don't mind paying the £79 "UK" price as you are also paying for their after sales / service etc. and don't have to send items back to deepest China everytime something goes wrong. I know a canopy is "only" £4.45 and shipping is "only" £2.45.... £6.90 is £6.90 folks and I sure as hell am not paying £6.90 for a piece of plastic that cracked due to a problem with the helicopter so I trust they will ship me out a new canopy. What IS the warranty with these things anyway? Very little talk of warranty period and even less on "what" is covered?.... warranties don't worry me too much as most gear these days is pretty reliable but these things are DEFINITELY something that carry a warranty..... say 12 motors pack in in a one year period, they should all be replaced free of charge under warranty BUT, as I say.... I see no reference to the word "warranty" .... I think it should be made clear if there is a warranty or NOT! If "not" then I won't be buying any more. if "so" then where exactly IS this warranty? Sure, you're taking a chance buying from China Direct as sending the item back would be a bit of a marathon but, when buying from a UK distributor, that distributor should have a warranty in places PLUS plenty of spares to back it up. Mike.
