What are the exact part numbers of the AD744 and Opa2107? I have seen AD744s with different extensions (i.e. aD744jnz) and the Opa2107 seems to have been made by two manufacturers, one of which is Burr Brown. Any help would be appreciated Peter I don't keep stock of the AD-744 (run out) you are looking for dip8 versions AD744JN or JNZ are fine. The OPA2107 you can try in BOTH positions in the Aune.... just shuffle things about (ie: Remove the 2604 and try a 2107 in it's place.... remove the 2134 and try an OPA 2107 in it's place) There are no hard and fast rules.... whatever sounds best to your ears. I can do you 1 OPA2107 for £9 or two for £15. Shipping will be £3 Mike. Hi Mike. I have just sent you a PM with my address and other details: Can you sell me two Opa2107s? Thanks. Best wishes, Peter

Thanks to this forum I will have a nice Aune Amp / Dac soon: The Aune has been shipped from China. I have ordered a browndog adapter with Dip-sockets in the US. I have paid for two Opa2107s from Pink Floyd. I am in the market for two AD744s (just to test against the Opa 2107). The Opa 2107 will most likely give me all the sound quality I could ever wish for. I own a set of Superlux HD-660. Peter

You might want to add a 18v-20v 1A regulated power supply to that list.

You might want to add a 18v-20v 1A regulated power supply to that list. Right you are! I am also going to buy regulated power supplies for my Squeezeboxes (Classic and Duet). And now I have fund a Danish supplier of AD744s - but ordering just two AD744s will set me back 23£ - :oouch!

One browndog adapter (Dip-version) for 2xAD744s arrived from the US
Still to go:
Aune Dac (China) + 2 x Opa2107 (UK) + 2 x AD744 (Denmark) + (regulated) PSU (Denmark).

Got my replacement PCB after the board fried on my Aune, top service from coolfungadget! Just fitted two OPA2107 in the buffer/headamp sockets on the Aune, anyone here find the OPA2107 'bright' sounding with good bass control?

Give the OPA2107 a couple of days in the circuit (leave the AUNE switched on).... they should settle down nicely Mike.

Thanks for the tip Pinky, wish I read this before I swapped out one of the OPA2107 on the head amp section since it was super bright, almost ear piercing! I currently have the OPA2107 in the buffer socket and the stock OPA2604 in the head amp, the level of detail and precision of the OPA2107 is certainly on another level compared with the stock OPA2134 opamp. Would love to hear peoples thoughts on dual OPA2107 in the Aune against a single OPA2107 on buffer and dual AD744 on head amp.

I recently swapped in a OPA2107 and have the dual AD744(stock not class a) in the headamp section. I 'm finding it to be warmer, have a little more mid bass, and less treble than the stock OPA2134. As a result to my ears it sounds slower and thicker. I'm not sure if I like the results much but I'm going to let it burn in a while longer.

Hello, I got mine 2 days ago and I like it alot. Anyway, i swapped the original OPAs in both positions with OPA627's on Browndog adapters and in my oppinion the result is very good. I also build a PSU, outputting 18V DC with a capacitance of 40000 microF, it also gives a "bit" to the sound. The question now is what else to tune. Anybody changed the stock Crystal, and how did this affect the sound? I am playing it at the moment at work, using the USB, on a Grado 325i headphone set. I also changed the stock green LEDs with blue, it looks much cooler /p

Hello again. Anyone tried to change output transistors? I am wondering if there is anything to gain if the transistors are changed to MJE15032G MJE15033G.... /p

I have now received the Aune, but needs to buy another power supply as the supplied adapter won't fit into my power block. I was goint to buy an 18v or 20v psu anyway, so it is no big deal.
I have 2 x Opa 2107 on order and will get my hands on two AD744s after April 1. For now I'll just listen to the Aune as is, in order to register its stock qualities. I can't wait ...

Yes it sounds like a definite upgrade of the Dac in my Squeezebox Duet (coax) , even with a lowly 12v power supply that I had lying around. But in the next week I will test it more thoroughly with an 18v-20v power supply, but so far I enjoy it very much.
I have a couple of Opa 2107s arriving soon I hope, and next month I will order a couple of AD744s in Denmark. The browndog adapter I have already received from the US.
Best wishes, Peter

Best wishes, Peter Peter, Yours is the second parcel "ever" that has gone missing (and I have sent thousands over the years), my apologies. I will send you another pair of 2107 on Monday and, this time, will ship them "signed for / trackable"...... I usually ship everything this way but small items (like the 2107) I normally just post standard airmail as the trackability / insurance costs over £5 GBP...... No worries, standard airmail is automatically compensated for £39 against loss so I will fill out a claim form. All the best, Mike.

Hi Mike.
I sent you a PM. It's just bad luck and you are certainly not to be blamed. I am happy that the parcel was insured, indeed.
I have ordered another 2 x Opa2107 from the US on Ebay (the seller is audiosector).
I bought a regulated psu in Denmark that just would not work with the Aune no matter what I did. It is rated 5 - 24 v (with exchangeable resistors) and it would not make the Aune light up. Then I simply found a spare Netgear wallwart rated at 12v / 1a and that made the trick. The original one supplied by the seller of Aune didn't fit in my power block.
Best wishes, Peter

I've tested the OPA2107 in the Aune now for over a week, while the OPA2107 sounded more detailed to me I still preferred the overall sound of the stock OPA2134 in the buffer position via both the head amp and through the RCA out to my main amp/speaker. In the head amp position I also preferred the dual AD744 over the OPA2107. I guess my personal preference is more towards the aggressive fast paced sound of the Analog Devices opamps over the slower, more mellow signature sound of the Burr Brown chips. I'm still tempted to try out dual OPA627 in the Aune...

Hi there.
I just received a couple of OPA 2107s that I bought on Ebay. Mike I just sent an email with an attached file.
I have not listened too closely to the Aune in stock configuration, still I installed the two OPA 2107s yesterday and will listen to them for the next week or so. Then I may try to swop back to stock, and then when the two AD744s that I just ordered for delivery around April 1 finally arrive, I will test them with the Opa 2107 and Opa 2134. It will be a challenge for me to hear the difference, I think.
Best wishes, Peter
