I drove from Seal Beach in Orange County through L.A. County to Ventura County in California, every Friday night and back the other way on Sunday night, for 12 years. Late at night, after 11 pm, and well out of the major city traffic, the cars were sparse and traffic very relaxed. I would sometimes drop to 50-55 mph, then be pulled over by CHP, who are practically hysterical -- "Sir, do you realize that you're driving 50 mph (on a freeway that has no minimum speed posted BTW)?" "You really need to drive the speed limit, sir." The greatest of fears in California is someone obstructing traffic, and they spot you quickly and are very severe about it. God help you if you should argue with them. Have a real problem and park your car on the side of the road, and within a short time it will be reduced to a pile of scrap metal. Jesus H......... I really am living a good life aren't I? Seems like hell where you drive Dale.... Hitler and then some? Mike.

And I learned to NEVER argue with the LAPD.

I think his family and friends have moved to my part of the world! It's the end of the day, and you have over an hours drive home. You are hungry and want to see your family and relax a bit. But the twunt in front of you, on a clear day with dry roads, is doing 45mph on a country A road (60mph limit). Why?? We are on a straight bit now, good visibility, but no chance to get past. He brakes. Why?? nothing coming the other way, no magic fairies or dragons in the road. Strange. Coming up to a gentle corner, no reason for a normal person to brake. He does, down to 25mph. Twunt. I'm driving well back from him now, as he seems a bit random. Driving into a village now. 30mph limit. I slow down. He carries on at 45mph. Good grief. Past the village now, he accelerates up to 50mph, and then slows back down to 40. What a £ucktard!! Can't he at least achieve the speed limit? Repeat for the next hour, 3 or 4 times a week. Thank god for Radio 4 and some decent music in the car, or I'd be quite stressed.

Bullpup Flash your lights sound the horn, lean out of window and gesticulate wildly at his rear tyre then when he pulls over smile and drive past. That usually works lol

A fat ignorant cow in a Fiat Doblo (have you ever seen a slim person at the wheel in one of those purpose made vehicles (for ugly obese fat bastards / FAT BASTARD WAGON)just the other day, was meandering along at 40 MPH. I started to overtake her and she started to speed up! I managed to get past her (she's now doing almost 80 with her fat face!) looked in my rear view mirror and she looked really angry...... what the hell is that all about?? Ugly people in ugly cars seem the worst culprits.
Bloody road captains!

The local variation seems to be to brake and swerve - annoying but not as dangerous as your Fiat driver!

Was doing my normal daily drive "Reay to Thurso" last year and, on the way back, had a couple of coppers pull up behind me in my driveway.
Im on the North coast 500 route.
Anyhoo, bottom line, they clocked me doing 51 MPH in a 30MPH zone.
Thank god for the "covid" shit, the Prosecuter offered me a £100 fine and 3 points.
Thank god for "covid, if that was normal times the Sheriff would have reamed my arse with points and penalties.

Hi Mike, I take it that’s what they call a Motorway in your area as it’s got a tarmac surface. That fine seems low they sting you more than that for a speed awareness course in more civilised parts of the country lol Hope you keeping well All the best Martin

Took my trusty old steed "Steve" to Lidl last Friday, parked him up (as one does) and went into the shop to experience the joys of lidl...... 20 minutes later (yes, I spent 15 minutes queuing to get out) I returned to my car and was like "WTAF!!??" (What the actual f**k!) A mahoosive dent / crumped front bumper + god only knows what type of "unseen" damage lurking below the surface. Some f**ker has obviously reversed into the RH front end of the car and just driven off oblivious There are "literally" thousands of these self drive "motorhome" things up here at the moment (the type of people who can't afford a Hotel or a bed and breakfast but choose, instead, to pollute the roads with these "shanty towns on wheels". When I went into Lidl there were three of these horrid "hostels on wheels" parked in front of me (the dwellers of these "Vehicles" were obviously inside Lidl stocking up on their holiday essentials / treats such as freeway cola and "orlando" dog food) anyhoo...... don't get me started on these folk who think that driving at 40MPH in a f**king "box" and causing major conjestion on the roads are on "holiday" they're cheapskate pests and can't drive for toffee! Most of them are rentals "hire a shanty town on wheels" types and don't have a bloody clue how to drive them. You can diss the old fashioned car "with caravan attached" drivers but those guys knew how handle a car with a caravan attached...... these "rent a tent on wheels" characters shouldn't be allowed behind a steering wheel. Bottom line (I got there at last) one of these obnoxious bloody vehicles had backed into my parked car and, clearly, driven off "oblivious" to the fact that it had smacked into the front RH bumper of my trusty steed Steve. That's driving under the speed limit for you Pictures to follow.

That a bugger Mike however your friendly Lidl will have cctv probably covering car park so you may get a reg to trace vehicle and if it’s hired the hire company must give the details of the hirer or pay claim themselves. Good luck Mike

Good luck Mike No CCTV in Lidl car park Thurso, Highlands of Scotland. MOT runs out in November so I'm just going to scrap my trusty steed Martin. Life "really" IS too short and I'm not going to waste my short time left on this planet getting stressed out with things that are not important.... a "dent" on an 18 year old Nissan Micra is not important

Poor old Steve, my trusty steed of many years, is next in the queue to be crushed into a cube Pretty heartbreaking if truth be told but I'm not a great one for long goodbyes and grief. I said goodbye, and thanks for being the best car ever etc., and shed a typically "British" stiff upper lip repressed tear. All things must pass, I realise that, but to see Steve next in line to be compressed into a square lump of scrap metal brought a tear to my eyes. Onwards and upwards........ I kept the wheels (which are in absolutely SHIT condition) and am going to spend "possibly" weeks sanding them down, filling them, etch priming them, priming them, painting them and then applying a laquer. I could go the easy route and get them sand blasted / powder coated (£60 per wheel) but f**k that. The wheels are the only thing I have left from Steve so if it takes me 10 hours per wheel to do then it's a labour of love and well worth the time. Viktor (my Micra 160R street racer) will be glad of a pair of winter wheels so Maybe it was a blessing in disguise and a kick up the arse for me to get the paint gun out again RIP Steve, I will never forget you my friend. Long live Viktor (super Micra sports version)
