I built the standard Jaycar a while back, made sure it worked and then got waylaid doing the AK X-DAC V3 upgrade - superb.
I then went back to do the AK mods to the HA and somehow managed to reverse the feeds to the board, from my Jaycar/JHL PSU.
No LEDS but loud hum in the headphones. Switched power off and the music could be heard very low and very poor sound. The PSU reads 14.85V both sides but when I connect the leads into the HA the power drops to 10.8V on one side and 9.8V on the other. I have checked the transistors and they appear OK. No resistors or capacitors look odd and there were no burning smells or bangs. That's about all I know how to check. Is there anything likely be a main suspect or should I just send for another kit?
Thanks, Syd

Thanks, Syd Syd Shit happens ! You almost certainly have damaged the Toshiba Output devices and the I.C. I would replace those, as well as the main electrolytic capacitors on the PCB. You could try just replacing the main electros and I.C. initially, but it is unlikely that this is the only cause.Try initially with any dual I.C. such as the NE5532 etc. if you have one laying around. You aren't the only person who has inadvertently done this ! Alex

Alex
I'm using the case and sockets of an X PSU to supply DC to the AK X-DAC and separately, AC for the X Can V3, as you know. The three wires seem to not quite come out of the lead as they do from the socket but its all checked now.
I'll try your suggestions in the morning, never thought about the opamp, I have a few around. Thanks, Syd
