Thanks for the link Dean. Its the same guy, he must have got some more. My first front panel was badly marked and he sent another, but I see he now has a warning they may be slightly marked. At £50+ delivered I don't think I'll take a chance which is a pity as they're a really nice case.

The case arrived in perfect condition, very well packed in 2 box's with polystyrine.

That amp looks really schmick glad to see you got all your issues sorted out, I've just started building my first kit too. This thread is a great help, The dedicated SCHA tweak threads are a fantastic resource too, though they can be a little overwhelming for a n00b such as myself.

Another SCHA build, still waiting on lm4562 / input caps, but I seem to have a noise problem... The Amp is dead silent, but when I connect up RCA's Iam getting humming, is this due to not having any input caps currentley? all voltage checked and are normal. Thanks

Dean, Remove the earth connection from the top of the traffo, it's acting as a shorted winding on the traffo Just connect the earth direct to the case.

thanks, just a little anoyed with the humming issue , any ideas on this? deano The transformer is best mounted on either a piece of aluminium, or to metalwork of a metal case. The IEC earth should be connected to the metalwork/case as shown in photos in the "Tweaks" thread. The base plate helps remove some of the heat from the transformer if a plastic case is used, and in my build it is spaced a little above the bottom of the plastic case. This method also removes the need for the big mounting bolt of the toroidal transformer to protrude through the bottom of the case. It also provides a path to mains earth in the event of a failure of the transformer's primary winding due to voltage surges on the mains. (I wrote this before seeing your photos. Nice build !!) Sandyk P.S. If the hum persists after relocating the IEC mains earth to the chassis, try connecting a wire from the Earth pin on the HA PCB to mains earth point as well. Don't forget that if your source has no more than a couple of mV DC as measured at the end of it's connecting leads, that you can simply bypass the input capacitors. The hum when plugging in is due to the earth side of the interconnects causing a hum loop in your present wiring scheme.

Thanks guys, sandyk the h/p jack is not isolated from the chassis, I dont have any issues with noise, so it is not a problem.

Nice work indeed! Enjoy it. Yes that looks fantastic dean0, very neat and professional build quality, no idea how these Amps sound, but if its as good as yours looks, great!!!
