I'm thinking of upgrading my speaker cable, I now have "Van Den Hul The Snowline" My rig: Denon DCD 1500AE < VDH D 102 MKIII interconnect > Denon PMA 1500AE < VDH The Snowline speaker cable > Quadral Pico speakers (new model with ribbon tweeters).
I was thinking of: -Qed revelation -Van Den Hul, The Cs 122 -Kimber Cable 8VS
Has anyone got experience with these cables?

I've had one of the Kimber range in the past (4VS IIRC) and didn't really like it, I thought it was bright and unnatural. My preference is for solid core speaker cables, have you considered this path? I use Audioquest Type 4 (early version without weaved cover) because they are easier to route than 2 lengths of DNM but the DNM is also a good performer.

I'll look into it thx. At the moment I'm leaning towards the Qed Revelation. I can buy a second hand set for a really nice price and "what hifi" gave em a 5star rating.

Hi Skunkworks,i have tried many a cable [chord, atlas, qed & more]but i am now using and have been for the last 2 years nordost red dawn [bought second hand off ebay].i find this to be the best for me,solid bass and clear as a bell imho.very expensive to buy new so scour the for sale lsts, ebay etc.if you can possibly beg or borrow from friends or even ask in a local hifi shop,be cheeky you never know, good luck.

Because i have a long run to my speakers and the cost of buying wa sprohbitive I made my own .... www.venhaus1.com/diycatfivecables.htmlHighly recommended .. and has been likened to Kimber 8VS. If you do go this route, make sure you use very good quality Cat 5 with a PTFE coating. I bought a drum of the stuff, and have a load lieing around somewhere. I may even be willing to sell some if you give me the length you require, I could send you the right length to make up some for yourself.

Thx for the info. I bought the second hand Qed Revelation. Couldn't go wrong at a quarter of the retail price

I have always gone with the "simple is best" method so my choices run to the solid core single conductor polarity side of things with my current wires being a 10' parallel run of 16 guage magnet wire. In past days I used Romex, the meanest snarliest hard to work with crap ever invented for anything not "in wall" but it worked so well (SQ) I dealt with its very unfriendly implementation which was to strip the wire out of the outer sheath (use the proper tool !) then twist one black and one green together for the cable (tie one end down to s solid surface then use a drill for the twist unless your fingers are STRONG As for commercial cables I have had far too many bad experiences with some very expensive (but oh so very pretty ) cable I got to the point where I was cable shy but I have found the Mid Level (under $80) Monster Cable, the Audioquest Type 4 and the Kimber 4PR to be good overall performers for not a whole lot of loot
