Well, I had the chance to hear one during the first night F1 Sunday (not hearing F1 motor sound, ok? ) in Singapore and it sounded just terrible with just one big plus factor of a very very wide soundstage. Other than that, I didn't get the high expectations of the qualities of ES speakers like extreme mid range transparency and a high holograhic presentation of a real singer in the room effect as I can get from a Quad, Martin Logan and even an old Acoustat. Really quite disappointed when expecting much better results. The amp was a Greek highend hybrid amp of 100W class A SET Ypsilon. www.ypsilonelectronics.com/home/The Soundlab ES ..................... www.soundlab-speakers.com/majestic.htm

Quad ESL-57 is my idea of a "stat' If you don't need or expect large room filling SPLs and if you power them right (hard to beat a Push-Pull EL84 amp but ny GOOD amp of around 15-25 watts will do and if you use program material suited to small scale listening they can sound good enough to make a full grown man weep If not ? Stack two of the puppies together, add a bipolar sub get ready to be dazzled !

Ya, that Quad is that good and I believed Wilson Audio Wamm had used them for their mid, right, at one time or other. S2D4 literally. Ya, anyone had heard the Dutch Final ES speakers?

Not exactly wife friendly though ! At least until she actually hears them.for whatever reason the female species LOVES the sound of 'stats and that be they earspeakers or open air panels.at that time you will need to treat her very special 'cause if you are married and you should have the misfortune to get divorced GUESS who ends up with the "E" stats
