my wife likes the Senn sound so I got stuck building her an MG Head clone a while back after she listened to one at a high end audio show but she never did get the HD600 to go with the amp (her first choice was the Sennheiser Orpheus until I told her the cost along with the "I doubt it" remark ).Maybe it is time to go shopping again

I must get hold of a pair of K-701 when I can. As is the usual in the UK they are selling them for double, or even triple the price you can get them elsewhere so I won't be buying them from a UK dealer, that's for sure. I pay enough bloody tax and VAT as it is to these money grabbing bastards more commonly referred to as "the government" and sure as hell am not prepared to pay £300 GBP for them when they can be had for a lot cheaper than that.
$99 for K-501 is just an incredible price Miguel, that's like £47 GBP! How much are the K-701 over in the States?

K501 $99.95! Sounds like a bit of a bargin.
Haven't paid £300 for the k701s, but I wish I could have paid dollars instead of £s - they seem to be available for $300 or £300.

If you mark them as "item being returned to UK for repair" on the customs slip then they'll get through no worries..... I'll PM you on this one Miguel. Mike.

I'm currently running my K701's straight out of the emu 1212m. Sounds fantastic. I honestly can't remember why I ordered an amp. Oh yes. To make it fantasticer. That, and expand the bass.

you'll get better responde in both the bass and the high treble after that. That's what happened to mine after leaving them for 400 hours then running test tracks. It lost the little bit of sibilance it had (and if there's still some after that, odds are it's mismatched for the amp/socket)

Posting again. These headphone kick ass. At first I didn't believe this "voice coil" crap, but it really is true. It's like the vocals stand out from all other things, and not in a sense that it drowns the other sounds out. It's like they are perfectly detailed throughout, and they work alongside every other instrument. I really love these headphones. This is my second pair that is still burning in so I know what to expect and paired with the right amp it'll kick even more ass (especially after Mike is kind enough to solder on the parts I ordered for it). It is very neutral, and believe that. Every sound in the spectrum is open for analyzation and work alongside one another. They lack the brightness that I hated with the DT880's, and lack the bass invasion of the HD650. The mids to the highs are very detailed, somewhat miniaturized bass but it opens up the more you burn in.
