Skirts so short they could be classed as Captains belts and banned from TV Actually, they were known more for the beehive hairdos, the extreme eye makeup, and the slits up their skirts. I saw them live at Freedomland in the Bronx in the Summer of 1963. Well, I only saw them for a moment................the sight of them, coupled with the 98 degree heat was just too much for this 15 year old adolescent. I fainted.

Maybe it was in the UK but I'm sure they were told to cover up if they wanted to appear on television and thats why on some later clips they are full length or/and trousers.
Certainly what my Father relates with a glee in his eye the frst time he saw them.
