news.yahoo.com/s/launch/20070625/en_launch/44789127I hope they do more gigs. There's no way of keeping old rockers from stopping performing is there? Good luck to them as well, surely one of the finest rock bands in history. I'm sure they are not doing it for the money, they must be brewstered anyway. Nigel

It does seem like the big names from the past are all reforming ... actually and some more recent bands also (the Spice Girls ferchristsakes) Never feels quiet right to me ... I mean their technical ability on the instruments is never an issue, their voices do tend to suffer though, but there's someting about having some old rock idol on stage that reminds me that I'm getting older - and that's a little unsavoury! That said, I'm a bit of a fan of Zeppelin - so whatthefeck!

They don't look as good as the Spice Girls though, who are only in their 30s. Posh Spice is a bit of a phoney buck though ? SandyK

I'll tell you why they are all reforming and it's got bugger all to do with their love of music or desire to go on the road again... their album sales have plummeted thanks to freely available downloads so now they have to make the mega bucks filling stadiums and charging hundreds for a ticket instead of sitting on their fat rock and roll arses creaming in the royalties.
There was a bit about this on the radio only yesterday and they were saying the likes of the Rolling Stones (and a few others I can't recall) had cancelled some of their £1,000 a seat shows because the tickets weren't selling (no friggin' wonder!!!) apparantly some of these artists are really taking the piss charging exorbitant amounts for tickets but the fans have voted with their pockets and ain't buying into any of it.
These acts have now been forced to downsize from stadiums to marquees to satisfy the few who "are" willing to part with thousands to see them. These acts getting back together is for one reason and one reason only......... MONEY.

I know you should treat most of the reunion concerts with a large amount of cynicism but this initial concert is in honour of the late great Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
Not sure Led Zep need the money, then again neither should Stones.
Not sure if I'm a sucker for sentimentality but there seems a moral rightness that the drummer will be Jason.

I wouldn't think Zep need the money. Ticket prices £125. I expect them to sell out easy. Maybe this will encourage them to do some more concerts.

Put back a couple of weeks due to Page breaking his little finger.
Anyone wish they were going?
I'd sell my soul to the devil to be fifteen years old again.

This is about it and it SHOULD BE that way ! You KNOW modern pop/rock is in a sad state when 60 year olds can blow them off the stage on a bad day which sadly is the way of it and another nail in the coffin of humanity that from where i sit has been regressing rather than moving forward for nigh on twenty years now though back in the 90's we did not see it for what it was.......

if i'm lucky i might win play.com's raffle for 2 tickets, but i would never spend £125 to see any band and some foolish fan spent £83.000 for 2 tickets

£83 000 might be a drop in the ocean (pun intented) for some people. Good luck with the raffle, the concert can't be too far off.

It doesn't need to be LZ or the Stones that are after our money. There is a very mature industry built around their products, whether that be t-shirts, vinyl, cd or anything else. These parasites are greedy as hell and they milk anything and everything regardless if it makes sense - it only needs to make cents!

I guess if there's a market there, it's there to be milked.
I wonder if Zep will continue playing, or keep this as a one off?

they said it'll depend on how well it goes for now
talk about milking it i happened to see one of kiss's houses on tv a few months back and he had a room just packed full of their different merchandise and it wasn't a cupboard sized room either they might start out for the music but the money soon becomes important

By all accounts they seem to have gone down well. Life in the old rockers yet, give me Zep over the Stones any day of the week.
