SandyK you KNOW I am a tube guy and would usually rather go without than use an opamp but to be honest the Analog Addicts Phono Preamp is a serious phono stage (if a bit "literal" sounding but only IF you build it with the same parts recommended.I tried the same design with other opamps and was not at all hapy with the results. The original from 1999 used a battery supply and is also an option www.deadwaxcafe.com/vzone/phonopre.aspThe FET and all the assiciated parts can be discarded if for a MM only preamp which keeps the cost low other than for the OPA637 and it can be powered from battereis, even a shitload of AA's,or a line supply using anything from a simple three pin V-Reg circuit to a super-reg. Pecking order on DIY Phono Stages I have personally built and used is 1-The above El Cheapo Phono 2-L'Pacific,a JFET based design 3-And EAR 834P "clone" Built a damn lot of opamp based phono stages and this is the only keeper in the bunch but to be honest I actually use a 12AX7 based preamp and not solid state
