Hi Mike that was an extremely generous offer thank you. Unfortunately I have been having internet issues and haven’t been able to reply. It will be tomorrow afternoon before I have access to my emails. Many thanks David

Hi Mike, Be interested to see those mods, as would many on here. The work on the DV continues, look for way to replace the 6 film caps without taking out PCB at the mo. Martim Hi Martin, The £125 (seller accepted £115) V2 has arrived and it's immaculate inside and out...... I'll strip it down on Saturday, fit my usual mods as well as the latest tweaks, and post some photos in a separate thread on Sunday. I don't remember ever owning a Darkvoice but apparantly I tweaked one I "owned"? I must search Google for that one!! So many amps in the "sweetspot" of this forum..... it's hard to remember them all with intimacy..... I'll see if I can find the darkvoice thread and may be able to help you with the 6 film caps thang. Mike. Hi Mike, keep missing bits on this thread and then catching up. Here’s the link your your DV rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/2734/darkvoice-336-kiss-modsAnd this is when you sold it rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/2308/darkvoice-336i-slightly-modded-ukAll a long time ago I’m looking for a way to get the six caps out and put two Richey caps in without taking the pcb out and not disturbing too many bits. I’ll take out the three psu caps to give me a bit more room and see what I can do, hopefully I can then take out the pre amp bits to as it will just be used as an HA. That way I can have a feed thro from a tape out all the best Martin

Ha ha ha well now I’m a government scrounger living off benefits and handouts while getting my £10.00 Christmas surprise I have time to trawl thro all the old threads while on the buss with my free bus pass and the bus companies free WiFi Oh what a wonderful life. Now if I could get my pension updated on Costa Crime I’d be off for the sun and sangrias. Joking aside those caps would help if you can find them, thanks Mike All the best Martin

Just wanted to drop a quick note to say thankyou for all your replies on this thread. I'm now giving Radio Paradise a go whilst I google the DarkVoice 336SE. Seems like it could be a good option. How much would a couple of 'decent' valves cost? How would it compare roughly with a X-can V3? I vaguely remember Mike writing a X-Can V3 > X-Can V2 etc. statement a while back, I might try and dig that out later.

Unfortunately I have a funeral/family gathering this Friday and I guess it will be going on all weekend, consequently I’ll not get to the DV till late next week but I’ll keep everyone posted. All the best and thanks again Martin

No comparison both are good put the DV like the Bottlehead is an OTL amp it’s a different animal, you’ll need to try one if you can. I like them but not everyone’s cup of tea A decent set of glass for it is about £35.00.depends where you get them, Mike may be able to help you but be careful of fleebay deals. Edit; should have added this Please be aware that with the DV you will need to be confident when working on circuits and have passable soldering skills. You will need to change the vol pot and add a couple of leds and caps to one valve and change the coupling caps. Look at the link on here for the work Mike did 7 or 8yrs ago on one. Sure he can do it again if he still has the bits and his work it first class The bottlehead/speedball kit comes complete no mods needed it costs 5x what a modded X Can and about 3x what a DV will cost All the best Martin

Nice one Freddy but a bit pricey. In basic form it’s only about £250 plus HMRC duty. Worth an offer tho Martin
