I’m in the proces of moving away from my current house.
When I’m in normal mode (teacher and farher of four kids) I’m worrying about little things for hobby or for other household items and savingwehich ever is available. Now in moving mode I’m trowing hundreds and sometimes thousands of euros around like nothings wrong.
Going to a diy shop and leaving 300 euro with only a few items bought. Paying for advice on a morgage etc. and thousands euros vanish. And this is not on single occasions no it’s over and over again.
It’s warping my perspective!

It's the way of the modern world mate....... every bastard and their dog out to get paid for doing f**k all..... you choose to move house and all the f**king leaches creep out of the undergrowth to suck blood and money out of you. It's f**kin' awful Nando and it's high time "we" do something about it but "we" are sitting at our terminals "accepting" this shit from Big Brother and frightened to do anything about it for fear of reprisal from the thought police. Roger Waters: www.rt.com/news/464082-waters-twitter-unity4j-suspended/They are f**king us all mate, you're not alone.... we are all being f**ked by the globalist bastards. Hope you're happy in your new home mate. Mike.

Russia (!) Today writing about freedom of speech? That’s kinda odd, isn’t it?
At my new house there are certain things that are lesser than my current house but at least we are rid of these assholes neighbours. There, I have said it. This is the main reason to move. I am looking forward to the day I can sit and relax in my smaller garden without comments from over the hedge or walk on the street without being shouted at and called names.

There is an audio related issue... My Quad esl-63 have died. Both of them! I urged the movers to be very carefull with the old ladies and the did exept for the last bit of transport. The Quads are on little wheeled boards and were ridden about 20m over a road with little stones to my new house. Now there is a lot of wierd noises comming out of them. Probably the stators are loose because the (old and hard) glue broke with the shuttering over the stones. I'm looking at a repair cost of about 1500 euro or more. I hope the insurance of the movers will cover this but I'm not optimistic. They already said that if something glued commes loose in an electrical apparatus it is not covered by insurance. So I might be boogered.

So I might be boogered. Shit, you're not having much luck mate Maybe this is a message that the Quad speakers need to be replaced with something new? New home, new beginnings, new speakers, new neighbours etc. etc? You can pick up a working pair of ESL-63 for a few hundred quid www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=esl63+speakers&_sacat=0 but most of the listings are "collection only" which probably says quite a lot about the size / fragility of these speakers. Thing with the insurance, it will be hard / impossible to prove that the speakers were damaged "internally" / "in transit". If all of your furniture had fallen apart in transit then that's easy to prove..... ie: your tables and chairs went onto the lorry with their legs intact but fell apart in transit..... but a pair of speakers with "weird noises"? That will be a hard one mate. I really do feel for you (and can empathise to a certain degree) my much beloved "at the time / circa late 80's" pair of Rogers LS3/5a near field monitors went missing in the post..... I won't go into detail but let's just say I never saw them again and IIRC had to jump through f**king hoops only to get a measly £25 from the Royal Mail. That was back in the 80's but it still smarts a bit..... I loved those speakers! I would, in your situation, go under the bonnet. This guy seems keen ....... It's a job that needs to be done so put it on the list of "to do" www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6wxzyhzViMHope you are settling in well in your new home Sir..... it takes time...... All the best, Mike.

Your words help a lot. Thanks.
The Quads will be picked up tomorrow morning and I hope the insurance of the moving company will be kind but I’m not counting on anything. It was a risk all along of course. I got me some expensive speakers so repairing them is going to be expensive.
To be honnest. I don’t trust my skills enough to be repairing these speakers 5000V and anything.

Moving is like an endless string of little jobs which all take longer that planned. I fitted ground cables (is that the correct English) to two wall sockets where my audio is situated. Some MF electronics require ground connection.

I’ve learned what is wrong with my esl-63’s. Well, quite a lot actually. Of the 8 panels 3 have to be replaced and one possible replecement. The other elements can be refurbished. Then there is the dustcover that has to be replaced and with transport and labour it’s about 2300 euro. Oh, dear!
Then, what to do? Repair, replace or abandon? Repair is more costly than to replace with a refurbished ones of the same type. Than there is the tempting option of replacing with a newer model like the awesome Quad esl-989. I’ve had my eel-63 for about 20 years so an should I invest for the next 20 years in a esl-989?

I had a proper listen to the Quad esl-989 at the distributor and could not resist. I bought these...
This photo was taken at the distributor and as you can see I brought my MF x-a200 power amps with me. They worked perfectly with the esl's. Much better than the Quad power amps that were there because... one was broken. ;-)

Thanks, Mike!
I have them at home now... these things are great, in size and sound! Well, I say sound but they don’t sound like anything at all, they disapear. With your eyes closed you can’t point where they are. They are very effective room deviders as well 😄. The distributor was a bit cautious about my MF x-a200 power amps thought. We started the session last friday with my amps and after sometime he had to admit the MF’s are very good indeed. He said the amp has to be stable in the sence that it must not look at the load at the speaker end too much. He also said the Quad amps are great of course but not his very expensive Luxman amps which he sells as well.
Now we hope the insurance of the moving company is cooperative and pays the damage of my old speakers.

One of the quad esl-989 is broken. Kaput. The fuses I’ve tried break the moment I turn them on. Luckily I have 5 yeaf warranty. I hope I don’t have to use the warranty every two weeks.

And they’re back. Both 989s are playing some Opeth at the moment.
